To sometimes fall in love with toys again.

Ds 4 just got a little playmobil school bus, with flashing lights and he loves it. I've spent some time last night googling my old toys. People are asking for £100 for a mint condition Sindy doll!

My friend used to have a beautiful playmobil Victorian mansion, and I remember spending hours playing with it. I always liked to be the maid for some reason.

The Sindy horse is less than £10 on ebay too.

AIBU for going all gooey over toys, and I need to get a grip? Seeing the pictures online was like looking at old friends.

Not at all.

We were talking about the new Barbie bodies on another thread. Someone put pictures up of early 80s Barbies which were the same as the ones I had and I said the same about it being like seeing pictures of old friends.

It made want to go up and dig round the attic for them.

I don't have many barbies in my mum's attic, and I don't think that my ds s would be thrilled with them. _

I think it's very normal - I'm exactly the same! I also get quite excited about dd's new toys as well (the ones which didn't exist when I was little). Dh laughed at me the other day when I excitedly announced to dd "I've found our Pinky-Pie!" ( She's a new generation My Little Pony). And I spent a very happy evening recently when dh was out and dd was in bed, rebuilding her lego pirate castle (which is much too hard for her to do herself - it's 9+) from scratch.

I love building lego with ds. :) It's so lovely to open the box and tip it all on a tray. I read out the instructions, and he finds the pieces and puts them together. Then we have a great sense of accomplishment with the finished model. Then he gets to play with it, and it gradually evolves, and finally returns to its original form mixed in with a million other bits, or just sprinkled around the house.

Yanbu. Dd and I spent three hours playing with Duplo yesterday. She's just turned two so not particularly into building yet, of course I had to build the house for her people to play in. We need more bricks though. In fact it is through playing with dd and her her Duplo that I rediscovered my love for Lego and so most of my Christmas presents were Lego this year. I can't wait for dd to be old enough for those tiny polly pockets that they don't make anymore. Dm has saved all my toys :D I have 3 dolls and over ten cuddly toys that I can't bear to part with too but don't get played with as dd has her own Confused

No not at all ! I often look up old toys on ebay ! A princess leia doll went for £500 - cant believe it!! Wish i had kept that!! We had all the classics imo fisher price garage/house treehouse , teapot thingy .
I do have my dolls still though- in the loft but will get them down soon
I have built up a stack of books for my lg just the ones that I really loved!

YANBU - One of the best things about being a parent is getting to be a little bit childish sometimes, and playing with toys.

My dc had some playmobil for Christmas. Then my small turned up with a boxfull of all my old playmobil that she had kept!

I was so happy Grin

Earlier today dc were playing downstairs and I was upstairs playing with their playmobil Blush Blush

I recently cleared out a cupboard in my DM's house and found an old favourite- Etch-A-Sketch. It really took me back. I was really thrilled to pass it on to my DCs but they weren't impressed Sad It couldn't compete with a Ipad.

My DD has spent this last week playing with my 30 year old, huge, my little pony paradise estate. Using my old style ponies too rather than her new scrawny ones. DP said I looked so happy setting it all up Grin

She is now after my care bears Blush

Would have loved to have a DD and join in with dolls and girlie toys. Cars, work benches, garages and lego not as exciting for me. I used to love my Cindy dolls and changing their outfits. For Christmas I got a Mary Poppins soft bodied doll from the Disney shop. She sits on my dressing table and is just gorgeous with her clothes, carpet bag and umbrella!

Lego - i had a huge box of mostly ordinary lego with a few bases, i used to make house after house after house and then big high sky scrapers.

i had an etch a sketch too, but many a time smacked myself in the chin with it.

I had lots and lots of barbies and sindy dolls, i think my mum must have got them second hand. I was a strange child and cut off all their hair, painted their lips blue and told my mum all my dolls had died from bubonic plague. Blush

Does anyone remember the little animals/rabbits that were in match boxes?

I loved my farm set - but only had horses and a stable - oooh, im back on the floor in front of the fire with the TV on. The white horse with grey hair was my favourite. I was allowed to buy one a week from the toy shop that is now a coffee shop.

DD plays with my ponies and dream castle at my Mum's. She also inherited a box full of Polly pockets, both the teeny tiny ones and the bigger ones with the rubbery clothes. She has spent hours playing with these and they go for a right fortune on eBay. Looked for new ones for her but sadly they're not sold at all any more. She'd love more.

Ahh yes.. Care Bears. I had a yellow one with a sun on it.

I remember getting very told off for 'ruining nice toys' when I cut my sindy's hair and spiked it up with nail varnish.

We have the playmobil mansion.

I had one with the extra floor and everything. It got ruined when our cellar flooded and my mum replaced it when the insurance paid out. But I'd sort of grown out of playing with toys and it never got opened. It sat on top of a wardrobe until I gave it to DD1 as a Christmas present a couple of years ago!

I do miss the extra floor though, we have too much furniture to fit in it without the extra 2 rooms.

Oooh I'd love to find my old My Little Pony toys in my parents attic! I actually bought a few vintage ones when I was at uni and you could be zany like that, and I still love looking at them - they're in a box in my wardrobe. But I would like to find my old ones from when I was young again. I looked them up and one of them is actually worth about £50! But that would depend on the state that 6-year-old me left her in Grin

Yes, I had the my little ponies, care bears, keypers, Sindy dolls, Sylvanian families and trolls. I loved my toys.

The cat used to love the trolls, she would carry them around by the hair in her mouth like kittens, and hide them behind the sofa.

I still have my Fisher Price garage on proud display on my living room bookcase. The one with the rotating bit on the roof and the lift on the right that went 'grind ping grind ping'.

Plus the four cars and people too.
