Got these shoes for ds2 mid of sept/oct... (Outgrow his shoes) he went a full shoe size.

Unfortunetly MIL lost the receipt and they were also paid by a cash, however as I think they are faulty, rather than wear and tear, I took them back to the wynsors where mil purchased them, manager told me as I had no proof of purchase she could not do anything about them, I asked about transaction history or CCTV and she just basically said no proof, meh

I phoned head office who have been really good and they are going to look at the transactions between X and X dates.

However just wanted to ask if these are faulty shoes, ds had had say months wear (holiday times and weekend times etc) ds does not play football however does play yard games (bull dog, mams and dads etc)

What do you think? Also would have have took them back

Mil paid £30 for them, so not cheapish school shoes.

I can't blame the shop for refusing you anything. They wouldn't have the cctv from so long ago and may not have the time or facility to go that far back looking for one transaction. I think head office are going over and beyond what's reasonable.

That's pretty awful. I paid around £20 for my four year old sons school shoes from m&s. He's been wearing them since September and apart from a bit of stitching coming undone one one of the straps they're looking quite good. And he's the kinds of boy who loves mud!

They look pretty heavily worn too me (tread around toe gas almost disappeared) and have been distorted from being wet and drying out. Agree the ho are going above and beyond. Even if they found a transaction how would they identify it as your dm's? They could sell several pairs a week.

They're 4 months old, they look like they've been used in the wet, and I think YABU. Especially as you say he's been playing outside in them.

I think it's really nice that wynsors HO are going above and beyond, it shows they are about their customers, and although I probably would not purchase sketchers again, I know I would certinetly buy from them simply because of their customer service.

I would really like to have receive replacement shoes, however if we don't, then I cant say wynsors didn't try, because they really have.

But my AIBU wasn't about the service I was receiving, it was more do you think they were faulty and if you did would you have taken them back?

i think without proof or purchase youll get nothing. Thats not great for a pair of shoes at all, but I dont think it necessarily means theyre faulty. Just crap fashion shoes

You have no proof of purchase. You have went into random shop with random scabby shoes saying yeah, I have no proof I paid for these but I want my money back. I would've told you to bolt....and to have a nice day

The are wet, as it's been heavily raining here, and ds had to wear them all day, I've no idea how long they have been like that, da only told us yesterday and he needed new school shoes, as his were flapping.

They look really worn to me too, not faulty. Dd used to do similar to shoes within a few months, even though other kids with the same shoes didn't have any problems.

Shop are going above and beyond imo, you have no proof of purchase and they look well worn

They are identifying the transaction as we purchased other items, at the same time.

They look a lot older than 3/4 months, obviously had some pretty heavy wear!

I wear Sketchers Go Walk for work in the summer, I'm on block paving for 8 hours twice a week and I replace them every few months. They aren't faulty but the softness of the sole, the reason I buy them, isn't conducive with the hardness of the block paving. Perhaps this is the same sort of thing if your ds is playing on hardstanding everyday?

I would expect a pair of school shoes to be outgrown rather than worn out, and I would expect a pair to last more than 3 months.

Without proof of when you purchased them then you probably won't get very far, but you can seek advice on the sale of goods act and Wynsors responsibilities.

But that's the point... They aren't well worn, They are only 4 months old. Getting worn for 7 hours a day max.

I'm not expecting anything from the shop and think it's good they are going above and beyond. Even if it leads to nothing.

Ds isn't heavy on shoes either, he had Russle and Bromley last year and they lasted him the whole year.

In answer to your question : Tbh I'd be embarrassed taking them back and trying for a refund or exchange after so long (66 days of wear if we assume they were bought on 1st October and then excluding school hols and weekends) and although 66 days doesn't seem like a long time they will have been worn for 8 hours a day (528 hours in total) in all weathers, with running around added on top. Those shoes look extremely worn and I would guess just weren't very well made / sturdy to begin with, I'd say you got your moneys worth out of them.

Ds school is carpeted, his yard is jaggy concrete.

When I was a waitress I used to go through shoes once every 2-3 months because of the carpet, so I was thinking about that, but his thread on the shoes (other than his heel as he walks to the right) are fully threaded.

Maybe it's just sketchers are not suitable for him. (First pair, he's had)

They look wrecked to me, I wouldn't have taken them back- I'd be far too embarrassed, also did you not notice just how bad they were? Not sure how a pair of school shoes would get in such bad condition without a parent noticing!

They've been wrecked by the weather they are not faulty. I don't know how you had the brass nerve to take them back

You're in for a shock at teenagedom.. I feel sorry for my sons shoes when he gets a new pair.

4 months wear for 7 hours a day, by a young boy, isnt light wear either though.

I think you just need to make sure you get tougher shoes next time. Skechers are a fashion brand. They may be comfy but theyre not hard wearing.

Try Toughees, dr martens, clarks or Ricosta.

But they aren't school shoes , they're trainers . I wouldn't expect to get 7 hours everyday , all weather wear out of them for long.

The other thing is when kids sit on the carpet they are constantly playing with the velcro straps, undoing them and doing them back up - drives me to distraction - so that could have weakened them, then you also get those who pick away at their shoes especially if they find a lose bit. One of the kids in my class has already worn through the sole of his new shoes.

My daughter wrecked a pair of shoes in two weeks once. Serves me right for thinking she might get away with cheap ones from brantano

I wreck my own shoes pretty quickly too if im not careful. I now only buy dms

For those giving the OP a hard time, under the Consumer Rights Act if the item is faulty she is still entitled to a refund, or replacement even without a receipt

They are not faulty though. The OP is expecting an awful lot for a pair of cheap shoes that aren't designed to be worn all day every day in all weathers.

Ds1 done that ILove, 3 weeks old addidas school "shoes" he's heavy footed (plays football and all other sports) he picked the leather of them... Had to buy him new ones well he did, through his pocket money

Point taken everyone, not used to shoes falling this apart, as I said ds, lasted a whole year, I actually don't think I've ever had a pair of shoes that has fell apart, and I've got shoes that's over 10 years old.
