I just find them repulsive to look at! seriously. Considering not going back to my opticians because their receptionist has them and I just find them a bit haunting iykwim.

They are even worse than those rings through the nose, which also just make me want to go ewwwwww!

Rings through noses make the wearer's face look like a cow, or even worse a pig.
Why would a human want to look like a pig? Confused

BathshebaDarkstone · 30/12/2015 17:23

I've never seen stretched lobes that weren't looked after, they sound disgusting. Nice clean ones I have no problems with. YANBU for not liking them.

finetonive · 30/12/2015 17:24

Quiz, because they're desperate to look 'alternative'.
It's sad really.
But its their body. Their choice.

wickedlazy · 30/12/2015 17:25

DramaQueen why don't you do something? Put a plum shade over brown, or get a discreet piercing. Something like a forward helix. Could you have a chat with vice principal or similar to see what would be allowed. If you don't like your look, change it.

Doobigetta · 30/12/2015 17:26

OMG, I didn't know that they smell. They grossed me out enough already. Eeuw.

mygrandchildrenrock · 30/12/2015 17:30

Many years ago one of my DDs had her eyebrow pierced and I couldn't look at her without feeling queasy. Difficult as she still lived at home. I spent the first two weeks she had it done talking to her without looking at her, whilst telling her I was really sorry but it made me feel sick! I got used to it, never liked it though and now, years later look at her lovely face with a horrible scar over her eyebrow that she caused for fashion! goodness knows what I would do if either teenager still at home had a ear hole thing

Chimchar · 30/12/2015 17:32

I like 'em. Grin

As others have said, they only smell if you don't keep them clean, same as any other piercing, including 'normal' lobes.

grannytomine · 30/12/2015 18:16

I always wonder about the nose piercings and if it causes problems when you have a cold. I think its because I tend to get cold sores up my nose when I have a cold and they hurt when I have to blow and I wonder if a nose piercing gets sore when you have a cold. This might be my chance to find out if some kind pierced person would share.

Both my ears are stretched to 20mm and definitely don't smell. I wear plugs most of the time so they just look like oversized earrings.

Scarletforya · 30/12/2015 18:30

Yanbu

They're ugly. I find it difficult to look at them.

The smallish ones look alright but when they get massive they look as if they would get caught on your clothes or you'd get your hand stuck in one during the night.

SistersOfPercy · 30/12/2015 18:47

It's funny, but in 42 years I've seen many people from all walks of life and none have ever evoked a reaction of 'feeling physically sick'.

RufusTheReindeer · 30/12/2015 18:52

Yanbu

I dont like them at all, i hole my children dont get them Grin

Grittzio · 30/12/2015 18:52

Don't like them but each to their own but what would really get my goat is if the cash strapped NHS were expected to sort out disfigured ear lobes in the future. And if you are unemployed and have them perhaps ask your self why.

Palomb · 30/12/2015 18:55

The NHS don't do that kind of cosmetic surgery. If a person wanted them repaired they would have to pay for it privately.

paulapantsdown · 30/12/2015 18:56

They look like a cats arse when the things are taken out. Repulsive.

There used to be a bloke who came into our work who used to keep his cigarette lighter in his! I couldn't look at him without actually gagging.

M48294Y · 30/12/2015 18:56

Yes, it is funny that the stretched lobes (NOT the person themselves) make me feel queasy SistersofPercy as I am a life-long emetophobe with an iron stomach. Very little makes me feel a physical reaction in my stomach, so I guess I just really do hate them.

JacquesHammer · 30/12/2015 19:02

I understand there may be a reaction to the more extreme body modification, but are people seriously "feeling queasy" because someone has a piercing in their eyebrow or lip?

Man it must be hard to be out of the house without feeling off it....

catfordbetty · 30/12/2015 19:03

I have heard (from a possibly unreliable source) that the NHS will repair stretched ears if someone can demonstrate that they are causing psychological distress.

SistersOfPercy · 30/12/2015 19:04

Precisely Jaques.
Only on MN do people feel 'physically sick' at all sorts of things that most folk would just shrug at.

Bailey101 · 30/12/2015 19:05

I'd be terrified of getting them caught on something! Can you imagine if you fell and it looped round a railing end or something Shock

CherryPits · 30/12/2015 19:06

Narrow minded post M48294Y, gotta say it, very narrow-minded.
