I just find them repulsive to look at! seriously. Considering not going back to my opticians because their receptionist has them and I just find them a bit haunting iykwim.

They are even worse than those rings through the nose, which also just make me want to go ewwwwww!

I have no issues with tattoos or piercings but those ear-stretchy things make my blood run cold. They are just repellent.

I don't really understand them, or many of the strange things that people choose to do with their bodies. Different strokes and all that.

3littlebadgers · 30/12/2015 20:06

How do they do it? Is it like a normal stud or ring that can expand?

munkisocks · 30/12/2015 20:12

My dh stretched his own. The hole is about an inch wide. It smells cheesy but he washes it daily. I rolled over in bed and the earring was stuck to my back having come out of the hole. He ties a balloon in his ring at parties. His little cousins love it.

munkisocks · 30/12/2015 20:13

You expand it using bigger ring after bigger ring.

MrsJayy · 30/12/2015 20:13

Its cylander (sp) spike things you start small and work up to the size you want dd went up to 5mm (i think) it took her a month to do

M48294Y · 30/12/2015 20:16

Bit like butt plugs then?

(sorry to lower the tone)

lampshady · 30/12/2015 20:23

What size are people talking here? A cm? Two?

lorelei9 · 30/12/2015 21:03

They make me queasy too
I like eyebrow piercings, have no dislike of any piercing or tattoo
Just this one particular thing makes me feel queasy
The lip plate thing also makes me queasy

Dd had some nice designs for her plugs i just couldnt cope if she took them out in front of me

BeyondJinglebells · 30/12/2015 21:39

Mine are 6mm. I dont like big ones though, especially not with tunnels. So i wont have mine any bigger. You know, how it works with most things - dont like it, dont do it yourself

PrimeDirective · 30/12/2015 23:18

They are truly repulsive.
I cannot bear to see them.

Wolfiefan · 30/12/2015 23:20

Wow. Lots of judging here! My brother has one (maybe two) of these.
He doesn't smell!
I'm also sure he's a much nicer person than some of the people making rude comments on here.
Each to their own.

Babyroobs · 30/12/2015 23:38

My work colleauge has a row of studs on the back of her neck right on the bony part. Makes me feel ill to look, in fact I can't look at them without feeliing queasy. I would never judge a person on anyhting they do to their body, I just can't look at piercings or those ear things !!

HPsauciness · 30/12/2015 23:47

I know what you mean because I find tongue or lip piercings make me feel funny, I can't concentrate on what the person is saying as I keep thinking 'omg, that metal is going through their lip' or whatever. It is just an extension of my squeamishness about needles in general. I can cope with earrings in ears and noses as long as no-one touches them with me watching. I once turned down a date with a guy with a tongue piercing (yes, I know what you are all going to tell me is so great about this) as I just couldn't face kissing someone with metal through their tongue.

All tattoos fine, don't mind the ear things that much, it's the piercings that get to me, even the word makes me feel quite ill and I've not worn earrings in my own pierced ears for years.

kelper · 31/12/2015 00:01

Theres a guy who works at a local supermarket who has stretched his ear to the size of a tea saucer, I've watched the transformation over the years and it is quite fascinating, but it does give me the willies a bit.
Not something id have done, but I've got ink and weird ear piercings and I'm sure some people don't like them ;)
Ive had my nose pierced several times but it never takes well, i always struggle putting a stud or ring in so i take it out after about a month every ten years or so!! Drives my DH mad when i get bitten by the piercing bug!

PrimeDirective · 31/12/2015 10:30

Saying that I find them repulsive does not mean that I am making any judgement about the person.
Most of the comments I have read on this thread have been about the piercings and how they look, not judging the person themselves.
I worked with someone recently with huge stretched lobes - she was lovely, but I found her lobes revolting.

MummaV · 31/12/2015 10:50

My ex had large holes and at times they did smell awful but otherwise they looked good and suited his style. I once had the back of my neck pierced at my boss at the time (also my best friends partner) couldn't look at it so my friend had to ask me to wear my hair down to work so he couldn't see it.

An acquaintance of mine didn't want to stretch his ears like a normal person so instead had them punched, which is essentially where someone takes a hole punch to your ear. It bled an incredible amount and he had to carry home the bits of his ear they punched out in a little plastic bag. No idea why he decided to keep them. I was very unfortunate to bump into him 20 mins after he had it done.

I can't imagine how you could tolerate what I gather is a smell stemming from infection. I'm having difficulty just typing this sentence.
