To think this could be a fake note

Sorry dont know where to put this. I have attached a photo. There's another 2 like this as well. The paper feels slightly funny (I think) If you hold them up to the light the hologram is shown but you can see it when it is not held up to the light as well. The hologram does show a 10 but not a picture when you tilt it. It smells a bit like bleach as well. £30 pound is a lot to loose if i went to tesco what are my chances of them spotting it (if it is a fake) and if they are spotted what would happen would the police be called. Thank you

You do realise the writing is back to front too?

abbsismyhero · 30/12/2015 15:27

where did it come from? if you got it from a bank they check them big stores usually check them too

MissDexter · 30/12/2015 15:27

Is the note back to front or just your picture?

DontBuyANewElfCashmere · 30/12/2015 15:28

Where's the silver strip? Can you tear it? That's a good indicator ime.
If they spot it, call the police and make a complaint you could be arrested.

tickleyourpickle · 30/12/2015 15:28

Not, where did you get them from?
If somebody came to my shop with this, I wouldn't call the police but I wouldn't accept it obviously.
Tesco might have procedures where they must call the police

makingitthroughok · 30/12/2015 15:29

Its just the way i took the photo i took it on computer web cam. If im honest i cant remember where i got it from but it was not from ATM.

You might be asked where it came from if you do get called in by the police. If you know it's fake ( not accusing you here but if you've 'acquired' these dodgy notes ) and want to try your luck a big shop with security is probably not the place to do so!

makingitthroughok · 30/12/2015 15:30

Silver strip is shown when held up to light but also when not. If that makes sense. What do you mean can i tear it.

Any bank will be able to tell you if it's a fake or not.

Sometimes very new notes can feel a bit odd, simply because we're used to handling older notes that have gone softer over time.

FishWithABicycle · 30/12/2015 15:31

It is a crime to try to use as legal tender any note that you know to be or suspect to be fake.

Do you know where these notes came from?

The only legal thing for you to do is take them to a bank or police station to be checked for whether they are legal.

If fake and they came from someone you know to be honest, they are part of a chain leading back to the original criminal who first used them as tender. That person is a thief having obtained goods or services without paying for them.

Happyrouter · 30/12/2015 15:31

It looks like the photo has been taken using selfie mode on the camera...?

makingitthroughok · 30/12/2015 15:31

I dont its fake, i think it could be.

UnGoogleable · 30/12/2015 15:32

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2015 15:33

What kind of camera would reverse part of an image but not the whole lot

Happyrouter · 30/12/2015 15:34

Stealth it would take the pic like that on a phone in selfie mode.

Op, could the smell and feel be a result of going through the wash maybe? No idea about the hologram

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2015 15:35

Really? How odd

Postitblue · 30/12/2015 15:35

^shows how to check

goodnightdarthvader1 · 30/12/2015 15:35

What do you mean "part of the image"?

makingitthroughok · 30/12/2015 15:38
