to have lost it and gone ape shit at his parents house?

His parents are the two most annoying people in the world. Yesterday we were there at their house. His mother constantly went on and on about sorting the carcass out, his father was attention seeking, coughing and spluttering good everywhere while we were trying to eat, the pair of them kept coming out with ridiculous stories that made them sound like twats, going on about how much money and jewellery they had and how spoilt she was by insisting that FIL and DH buy her new jewellery every Christmas and then to top it off - his father let DD outside after I'd specifically said she wasn't to go out but he opened the door in a cocky manner and let her out in the snow with no shoes on!!!! So I lost it, told MIL that she was the carcass, asked if they were so rich why is their house a disgusting grovel and told them that if they undermine me with dd again they'll be banned from unsupervised contact. Now, nobody (including dh) is talking to me.

Wow it sounds like you were so tired of there unreasonable behaviour and the nO shoes in the snow just tipped you over the edge. Flowers Unfortunately you lost it and lost the moral high ground with it. Fortunately you created the wonderful insult 'you're the carcass' so not all is lost Smile

DoctorTwo · 23/11/2015 06:09

I like your thinking Signora :o I've been a fan since Grindcrusher.

Enjolrass · 23/11/2015 06:30

I am not going to be able to have the turkey on the table on Christmas Day.

One look at the carcass and I will be rolling about laughing.

I can't not wait to throw this insult at someone!

Next time dd tells me my jokes are rubbish she is going to get this right back.....that'll teach her Xmas Grin

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/11/2015 06:31

Yeah, pretty much what littlepea said.

What did your H say about the SS reporting incident? Surely he can see that his mother's behaviour is unreasonable?

And actually, letting a small child into the snow with no shoes on is utterly unreasonable - I've accidentally allowed DS1's feet to get cold in snow (didn't realise it was going in through the stupid holes in his stupid shoes) and he was in agony, first when they got cold and then when they warmed up! He was only in it for 2 minutes, tops! So your FIL sounds like a smug wanker as well.

But yeah, you did rather lose the moral high ground with your outburst (I do LOVE the insult "you're the carcass!" though).

I think you need to have a chat with your DH about his parents' ongoing behaviour and attitude towards you and your DC though.

ArmchairTraveller · 23/11/2015 06:43

Did you forget to add 'And then I woke up?'

FindoGask · 23/11/2015 06:48

is this one of those ones that turns out to the the plot of a TV soap or novel?

tibbawyrots · 23/11/2015 07:28

adds "you're the carcass" to list of odd things to call DH during an argument Grin

ohtheholidays · 23/11/2015 08:05

I'm not surprised you lost it with them.

But to be honest with you OP I'm really surprised that you've had anything to do with your MIL if she reported you to SS for nothing and your FIL letting a little one outside in the snow with no shoes on is bloody stupid to say the least.

If they're so bad then I'd go NC with them and your husband needs to respect that.

firesidechat · 23/11/2015 09:06

I have a technical question. When I advanced searched the op's name (I couldn't resist, sorry) it said that there were no messages posted by DryGob. How can that be?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/11/2015 09:17

I think AS might be broken, fireside! I've just checked on my laptop, so it's not a mobile site issue (often is but not this time) and you're right, it shows 0 results for the OP's name. Odd!

definitelybutter1 · 23/11/2015 09:18

I luffs mumsnet

and I'm really not marking my place

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/11/2015 09:22

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2508556-Search-only-shows-reaults-in-aibu This happened a couple of weeks ago - so it has been broken recently - maybe it is again? Perhaps you could start a thread in site stuff about it, get Tech to take a look.

Literally snorting here and that doesn't often happen Grin

I had visions of a zombie MIL lurching round that grovel Grin

BeverlyGoldberg · 23/11/2015 10:50

Next time I'm on the phone to my MIL I'm going to have to bite my fist from shouting "you're the carcass".

Can this go in classics, it's the best laugh I've had in ages.

Olddear · 23/11/2015 10:53

'You're the carcass' is my go-to insult from on!

LagunaBubbles · 23/11/2015 10:56

Now Ive stopped laughing at everyones reponses to this I really want to know what you meant OP? Is she particularly bony?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 23/11/2015 10:57

spritefairy · 23/11/2015 11:00

Was it a t-rex carcass Grin

BabyGanoush · 23/11/2015 11:06

This thread is great Grin

I think saying "you're the carcass!" Is brilliant

Also feel grandpa could be gorgiven for being "overly keen with the lollies"

What's the background story with SS?!

molyholy · 23/11/2015 11:06

Reading this thread sneakily in work. I have had to stop and keep coming back to it after composing myself. Fucking hilarious. Grin

BeverlyGoldberg · 23/11/2015 11:08

I'm going to play "you're the carcass" bingo with MIL, her latest favourite behaviour is to wait until I have started speaking before she starts to speak over me and changes the subject. Wonder how many I can get away with Grin

SarfEast1cated · 23/11/2015 11:13

Can we have a carcass icon?

paulapompom · 23/11/2015 11:21

I haven't rtft. Who actually is the carcass?

CallMeExhausted · 23/11/2015 11:23
