I've got a hankering for readybrek, ah I love readybrek could live off the stuff in the winter months!!

Tho I always feel a bit guilty having it for breakfast, does anyone think that it's more like a dessert, esp with a dollop of Nutella?
It's so similar to semolina! Obviously not a huge quandary, but i want to talk about Ready Brek.

Yummy yum yum in my tum....

Oooh I love ready brek! Much nicer (imo) than porridge. I have mine at breakfast (or a supper snack) with sugar on top, crunchy as you eat it ...

BathshebaDarkstone · 26/10/2015 18:29

Oh YABU, it's too smooth, I only like proper porridge.

Becca19962014 · 26/10/2015 18:29

I make my own chocolate readybrek with hot chocolate powder.

I want readybrek now. But the weather is awful Sad

SeveredHeadOnnaSpike · 26/10/2015 18:34

I don't have it with brown sugar forming a crust on top, oh no. Halloween Blush

ThunderboltandLightening · 26/10/2015 18:35

Used to love chocolate readybrek as a kid. May need to get some tomorrow now to see if its as yummy as I remember

BUNMUM · 26/10/2015 18:37

I eat it everyday with raisins. And no I certainly do not add coco pops or cookie crisp to it!!!!!

So yum. Smile.

FootFlapperage · 26/10/2015 18:38

Love it!

MamaLazarou · 26/10/2015 18:39

Ready Brek was the first thing I ate in hospital after being Nil by Mouth for four days.

Let me tell you that it was the most delicious thing that has ever passed my lips.

MrsJorahMormont · 26/10/2015 18:40

This is giving me a real craving for the horrible stuff! :o

Kirjava · 26/10/2015 18:43

Oh I love ready brek. So smooth and delicious. Better than proper porridge by a mile. I want some for my tea now.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 26/10/2015 18:47

I like it with either lots and lots of sugar or golden syrup in it.

I only get the instant hot oat stuff now with a flavour already to it. Dont think Ive ever eaten proper branded Ready Brek, only the shops own brands.

AnneSansTete · 26/10/2015 18:52

Mmm I love Ready Brek. It does feel naughty having it for breakfast though. I put so much golden syrup in it that it's basically a warm, milky flapjack.

winkywinkola · 26/10/2015 18:57

I love it too.

But it's so expensive. Oats aren't expensive. Why is Ready Brek so costly?

DoveCazzoEIlMioCaffe · 26/10/2015 18:58

I ate nothing but Readybrek with skimmed milk for 3 weeks before my gall bladder op and even after that I still love it!

ouryve · 26/10/2015 19:00

Mamalazarou - I ate loads of it when I had a wisdom tooth out and a mouthful of stitches!

An I prefer if made by adding the powder to hot milk, rather than heating it in the milk. Avoids the stickiness, that way (and I don't mind if it's not quite mixed properly, though I do prefer it on the thin side)

thefutureofpolitics · 26/10/2015 19:01

When I was little, we used to have porridge in a flask in a boat, right up off the very top of Scotland in the freezing cold. It is wonderful for warmth but really not made to be put in a flask! Therefore, I will forever associate porridge with cold, rain, thermos flasks and Aran jumpers ... I surprisingly quite like it though Hmm

Unreasonablebetty · 26/10/2015 19:04

I love it thick like wallpaper paste with Nutella.,
My DD likes it less thick,
Husband hates the stuff- no idea what's wrong with him.
I've sent him to buy some readybrek for us. Actually so very excited! :)
I might try it with coco pops or cornflakes... Never thought of it before seeing the posts!

I have mine with a spoon of lemon curd in it!

PlymouthMaid1 · 26/10/2015 19:29

Yuk - Readybrek has a weird taste and texture. I love real porridge though and have it nearly every day.

lilyb84 · 26/10/2015 19:53

I bloody love the chocolate Ready Brek. Nearly had an aneurysm when I discovered it in a local Sainsbury's having not seen it in years. Wish they sold it in more places though! Mmm really want some now...

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/10/2015 19:55

I used to give it to dd when she was little, gosh that stuff sticks to everything like glue.

WaxyBean · 26/10/2015 20:04

My kids love it with banana on. I much prefer proper porridge, it looks like sawdust swept up from the floor of an oats factory to me....

Libitina · 26/10/2015 20:04

Readybrek is yucky. It tastes like cardboard.Even as a child I hated it, would much rather have proper porridge, even if it didn't make me 'glow'. My current favourite is MOMA porridge.

KittyLovesPaintingOhYes · 26/10/2015 20:06

I have no ready brek in the house and am now very unhappy.

The glowy ad ('central heating for kids') was in the seventies/early eighties; when Sellafield went pear shaped Not The Nine O'clock News copied the ad into a sketch as 'give your kids central heating, buy a house near Sellafield' which I still remember every time I see a box of RB.

Hygge · 26/10/2015 20:15

I want some Readybrek now.

Do they still make that chocolate flavour?

I haven't had Readybrek in years.
