No heating unless it gets to 16

Its been pretty sunny today, so hallway is 19. That's warm enough right? I've got my slippers and jumper on and if anything I'm a bit too hot.

I don't put my heating on at 16. Heating only goes on if I'm still cold after I have put a blanket on my lap. That said I have a baby now so will probably put it on soon

16 is cooler than you'd think. I'd be fine at 19 but chilly at 17.

DH and I have thermostat wars too. Just installed Hive so now we can battle remotely. What larks!

In our house heating clicks on at 15 - if you're cold before then put on a jumper (or if you are DD2, tweak the thermostat to 20!)

16 would be way to cold for me. Grew up with mother and stepdad like this and basically remember my childhood winters as constantly being cold. Not nice.

I think temp in hallway is irrelevant..It is temp in the room you are sitting..

I've had the woodburner on most evenings this week. It went on at 4pm today.

I usually light the wood-burner when I feel chilly sitting in the living room with 2 fleeces on. For me, that usually occurs when the temperature in the room is below 17.

16C is 60F. I turned my heat on today for the first time since April, and it's 52F (11C). I think 16 is perfectly comfortable. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 70F here (21C), and I plan to turn off the heat and open the windows.

It depends what your doing, and what temp the room (not the hall) is at. Our thermostat used to be at 14, but that's because some idiot decided putting it right next to the door was a good idea.

But you can adjust to temperatures. Aircon currently set to 21, which leaves rooms at about 24. It deals lovely and cool when we walk in!

16 is chilly. Just nudged ours up from 19 to 20 as felt cold today

Yes, it's that time of the year chez nous as well. OH thinks evidence of frostbite needed before the heating goes on. If I take unilateral action he spends all day huffing about how hot it is.

18 degrees is my lower limit, if it was up to DH the heating would never go on

I'm happy at 19 but bloody freezing at 16 sitting still.
My heating goes on at 18 IF we're sitting still.

Mine's set at 18 but I oh ten whack it up to 20 if I'm cold.

I'll do a manual switch at 18. I've been flipping freezing all day despite my warm fleece (overcast all day) even though the DCs have been perfectly happy in shorts and pants/ t-shirt and pants.

If it was slightly colder I could justify the woodburner...

When I was due with Ds1 in the coldest month on record, I was quite happy at 15, despite not having many clothes left to stretch over my body!

I have an extremely ancient heating system that does not have any kind of thermostat
You can only control what times it goes on/off and the level of heat is set by a dial on the boiler
Heating control goes on at bonfire night and is switched off on April fools day!
Timer is set for 2 hours in a morning and 5 hours at night
In between if chilly add extra layers or wrap up in a blanket
My gas bills are v low compared to most people I know
DP who does not live with me lives in a home with no heating and has done so for last 8 years - even I think it's a bit much as can be around 11 in bedroom in depths of winter - but his financial position does not allow anything else

I hate being cold or having to put five million layers in so ours is set at 20 min and 16 at night or when we are not home.

We have friends who won't out the heating on more than 15 and it's always freezing and uncomfortable to visit.

Dh seems think 16 is a decent temperature. I think it's a bit on the chilly side. 19 is a good temperature for me, even with big fluffy jumper on.

I haven't even got central heating. I have a gas fire I rarely put on and a couple of oil filled electric radiators.

Unless you have children to consider or you have health problems I think people tend to overheat their environments. I spend most of my time at work trying to get people to turn the heating down.
