Imagine the scenario however you like but the crux is- you've just won twenty million pounds. AIBU to ask you what you would spend the money on or do?

Let's indulge ourselves on this dreary Sunday! Grin

By the way I haven't won even a penny, just fantasising!

After paying off bits and pieces I'd like to move house somewhere more rural and set up a dog shelter. It would need to be rural because of all the barking.

Also I'd have a personal gym. And maybe study something for pleasure.

Now you!

I would move house (again) - I'd move back to where we lived before, I think, but also keep this house to make the transition easier for the children.

I'd employ a really good nanny for them and a tutor who could teach them at home, and we would have a nice big garden. And I'd stay at home as long as I wanted to with ds3, rather than having to rush back to work.

20 million is rather too much I think, though - I don't think we would need that much at all. Just 1 million would do very nicely thank you.

I'd buy my sister a house too, and my parents if they wanted. And probably a better car for everyone, the usual boring plan - but mostly we have what we need, in terms of 'stuff'.

If there was any left I might think about having somewhere abroad as well, or permanently moving abroad, either Scandinavia or Australia.

Unreasonablebetty · 20/09/2015 10:20

If we won £20000000, we would firstly pay off all of my husband's debt,

We would then buy a house.

We would go to Disneyworld Florida- we booked a holiday and were paying it off when my husband lost his business in 2012. It's a broken dream since!

We would also have a honeymoon as we didn't have the funds to have one.

We would also give around 2 million put, annonymously to friends and family who don't have a lot.

Then we would buy a few properties to let out.

Then as builder husband wouldn't need to work for a wage, I'd put his skills to use as a builder and he would be set to work building a new house with pool. :-)

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 20/09/2015 10:23

I would buy the school a bigger playground, and play equipment. I would treat my friend to a permanent home, and driving lessons. I would buy a single hard working mom out of her dept, I would take the kids every summer to travel. I would buy a house in my home town so I could go more often.

Fluffyears · 20/09/2015 10:24

After I came round from the shock and picked myself up I would buy a new place, tell my boss to ram his job, take off on a nice holiday for a few months and relax. Then I'd come back and adopt some dogs, build my own gym inside the house and buy a nice car....DP would buy dozens of cars!

Flingmoo · 20/09/2015 10:24

Yes I'd definitely get a good live-in nanny so I could have another baby or two and not have to worry so much about the sleeplessness during the baby/toddler years as the nanny would help at night and give me naps etc.

Mainly I'd invest it sensibly and start up some businesses I already have ideas for, and maybe some charitable ventures.

Fluffyears · 20/09/2015 10:26

Oh and obviously I'd look after my family and best friend, I'd also put money in trust for my niece and nephew with one stipulation- their horrible mother gets nothing, if they do give any to her then the funds get removed! (Long story but very much an AIBU)

Backforthis · 20/09/2015 10:26

Go buy a period house in the countryside (1850 onwards and no cottages or low ceilings) with a couple of acres of land and a massive kitchen with a tiled floor, Aga and room for a huge wooden table. Buy several Orvis beds. Install dogs. Make a hearty beef stew and put it into the Aga. Sit at the wooden table with a good book, a buttered scone and a big mug of tea.

In reality the dogs would beg for the scone and then destroy the book, chairs and dog beds in no specific order. Perhaps some of the £20 million could go on obedience training Grin.

Tirfarthoinn · 20/09/2015 10:27

Set up for life on that amount of money so never need to work again. I have a business though and I would still work as my staff rely on me - they would get huge pay rises and I would invest a lot into the business so it would a least look like the best small business in the world Grin

SamVJ888 · 20/09/2015 10:27

Can I buy Matthew Perry or Benedict Cumberbum and use them as sex slaves? Grin

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 20/09/2015 10:28

I'd sort 5* accommodation for my trip, buy myself a nice flat in town and invest in driving lessons (big intensive course) then I'd call friends and family and go out for dinner and drinks to celebrate.

BrieAndChilli · 20/09/2015 10:28

I would buy one of the lovely big houses near the village the kids
Go to school in with land and stables and woodland etc

I would buy family and fiends houses and give them money etc

Set ups dream business of a party place for kids

Have a fund to give money to people of i heard about them being down on their luck or their doctors won't give them a certain cancers drug coz of their postcode etc

Travel

HackerFucker22 · 20/09/2015 10:29

We have a massive family so we'd be skint if we gave everyone a significant amount.

I think we'd give our folks a million each and our nieces and nephews would have a million each put in trust (but could be accessed by their parents)

That is £12 million gone...

With the rest we'd buy a London crash pad, but somewhere more rural as a forever home. I'd learn to drive and we'd have a new car each.

I think we'd plan the trip of a lifetime for a year or so (older DC isn't due to start school until 2017!!). We'd visit each and every single place on our bucket list - in style.

Then we'd live off the rest. I love the idea of an animal sanctuary... Also I'd love to learn another language properly and study for fun.

As this is complete fantasy I am being incredibly selfish!!!

Gileswithachainsaw · 20/09/2015 10:29

I'd help out family and friends.
I'd get my dream house built.

I'd pay for private schooling for my Dds
get a dog and a training expert.
get a cat
a personal trainer

ask MN what animal charities deserved a donation Wink

pay to get my house repaired/decorated ready to rent out for next people

Chillyegg · 20/09/2015 10:29

I'd buy this house www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-51334456.html
Take all my nearest and dearest on holiday. Then bung the rest in savings and investments. I'd still work. Also help my mum out a bit that's it I'm afraid.

PennyHasNoSurname · 20/09/2015 10:29

Id probably vomit but once id got past that:-

Pay off all my family and friends mortgages
Give my nearest and dearest without property the same in cash
DH and I always said we would split the money into three (1) for the kids (2) for us - 1/2 of this each and (3) for the future.

With the "for us" money we could decide how much we wanted to dole out to our own families/charities/friends

The kids money would sit in trust til 25, and the Future money would be for us to buy a better family home, take some amazing holidays, driving lessons for the kids, etc.

DragonMamma · 20/09/2015 10:30

I love this game.

I would move to somewhere a bit more rural, locally. I'd also buy a house, car for my mum plus also give her a million.

I'd give half a million each to my closet relatives (that I like!).

I'd give £10k each to my colleagues, to ease the pain of me walking out ??

I'd then have a cleaner come daily, be a sahm and just generally enjoy not being busy all week, every week.

I'd also buy a holiday home abroad and spend the summer there with the kids and dh.

I'd give a million to charity too.

flanjabelle · 20/09/2015 10:31

Buy myself a house and get out of this shithole. pack dd and my stuff and move into the poshest hotel I can find while someone sorts the move and furnishes the new house. The house would have a massive garden, swimming pool etc and cost around 3 mil. I would hire cleaners, gardeners etc. I'd give some to family, put some in trust for dd. Then love comfortably while I decide what to invest money in to bring in an income.

flanjabelle · 20/09/2015 10:32

Live not love

BlueMoonRising · 20/09/2015 10:33

I would buy or more likely build a house as I don't think it would be fair to keep living in social housing.

I would buy a house in Edinburgh for my brother to live in, and a smaller house for my mother.

I would travel. I would go on courses. I would try and figure out what I could do to help my community. Possibly build some low cost housing as there is a real shortage locally.

flanjabelle · 20/09/2015 10:34

Oh yes and fuck off on holiday for a couple of weeks every few months. with childcare so I could relax.

Chillyegg · 20/09/2015 10:34

I'd also help my friend out of his debts and put 50000 aside each for my brother sister and mum

MorrisZapp · 20/09/2015 10:35

I'm confused. Is Matthew Perry Chandler from Friends?

Anyhoo I'd bloody love the twenty mil. I could solve our extended families many, many problems at a stroke and gave shedloads left over for fun and good works.

Houses. I would buy houses.

ilovesooty · 20/09/2015 10:37

Pay off my debts.

Invest half of it to live off the income.

Buy a house in the UK.

Give my niece a million.

Spend all winter in Malta, Greece and Northern Cyprus travelling in business class.

Volunteer at my current place of work - hours to suit.

hookedonamoonagedaydreem · 20/09/2015 10:37

Move house

Pay off a few mortgages for friends and family
Do a MASSIVE ocado shop
Employ a full time nanny (not to dump the DCs on, but to help me be able to do more fun stuff with them)
Become a bit of a social landlord. Decent houses, long tenancies, sensible rents that sort of pie in the sky kind of thing...
Donate to a few favorite charity's

I might also consider a tummy tuck and boob job
Adopt 2 more DCs/foster

OurMiracle1106 · 20/09/2015 10:38

Buy my best friend a nice house. Buy the flat I share and the other 4 in the block .Kick my three flatmates into one of the flats downstairs. Spare flat I know someone who is sofa surfing so would offer it to them . Pay off all debts. Build affordable housing .Pay for my best friend and daughter to go to Disney land. Get my passport.

I would still work where I do cos I love my job .
