To think blue carrier bags look "naff"

Can't think of a better word..
Theyre a bit hard to avoid when you're going to the market or local shop, and I really hate carrying them. I never reuse blue carrier bags for anything apart from a bin liner.

When I see someone carrying a blue carrier bag down the road I feel bleugh...I just have this irrational dislike for blue carrier bags. after the blue ones I hate the stripy white and blue or white and red ones. They're flimsy and ugly.

Confused

They're carrier bags. Stop being such a snob and find something productive to occupy your time.

trufflesnout · 17/09/2015 11:48

I knew you were going to bring up stripeys. I quite like the stripey ones.

Sirzy · 17/09/2015 11:49

Well go and get yourself some pretty waitrose ones then!

Hmm
AloraRyger · 17/09/2015 11:49

Wow.

ComeInBaldrick · 17/09/2015 11:50

Okay Confused. That's nice.

grimbletart · 17/09/2015 11:50

As you say yourself OP - irrational.

fieldfare · 17/09/2015 11:53

How ridiculous.

WhatsTheT · 17/09/2015 11:53

I like blue ones, usually means they've bought something local and independent, and that's grand in my books.

BigRedBall · 17/09/2015 11:53

I live down the road from a waitrose but always drive further away to tesco or Lidl for a shop. Waitrose bags are flimsy too.

I don't recall ever seeing any blue carrier bags, but if I did, I can't imagine thinking they are any more or less 'naff' than any other colours. To be frank, carrier bags of any kind are not something I think about or have an opinion on, at all, and certainly not to the extent of starting a thread about blue ones. That's odd IMO.

ouryve · 17/09/2015 12:00

All shades of blue? Nice way to generalise.Hmm

BigRedBall · 17/09/2015 12:03

This is a blue carrier bag (for those who've never seen one Hmm)

Just because I hate blue bags it doesn't mean I hate all shades of blue.

How very Blue-ist of you.

atticusclaw2 · 17/09/2015 12:06

You really started a thread about this?

LovelyFriend · 17/09/2015 12:08

clearly nothing organic will every be carried in that blue bag or a stripey one for that matter. It's like a chav-tag bag alert in ones hand - reeks corner store.

Grin clearly I am taking the piss

BigRedBall · 17/09/2015 12:12

Yes I started a thread about this. Is there a law against me starting a thread about my hatred for blue carrier bags?
I know. Why don't we just all sit in silence and watch blank screens because apparently we're not allowed to start threads about things that matter to us anymore. Hmm

OP posts:
multivac · 17/09/2015 12:13

Thank goodness for that, OP. I was utterly, utterly lost on this thread until you posted that picture. So, by 'blue carrier bag' you meant a carrier bag that is blue? No wonder I was confused!

LoveChickens · 17/09/2015 12:14

Ha, know what you mean op.

DepecheNO · 17/09/2015 12:15

I can't wrap my head around why I dislike them; I just do. Definitely irrational, but nonetheless you aren't alone.

Gruntfuttock · 17/09/2015 12:17

multivac I quite agree. I hate cryptic OPs. Both my brain cells were really hurting until that photo was posted.

Olddear · 17/09/2015 12:19

Round here they carry their carry out in it to drink in the park.....

MackerelOfFact · 17/09/2015 12:21

I always wonder why the default colour for generic carrier bags is blue. Why is this so? And why are dusters always yellow with red stitching?

When I was with my XP a blue bag on the kitchen table when I got in was usually a sign that he'd bought a four-pack of Red Stripe from the corner shop on the way home and was probably sitting on his arse watching Netflix, and I'd have a drunken argument on my hands.

Good times.

wigglesrock · 17/09/2015 12:22

Here too olddear

BabsUnited · 17/09/2015 12:23

Where I used to live people would get given their organic veg from the local farmer's market from the person on the stall
