To let my DC stay in their PJs all day ... Again?

Dd is 5 and I have my niece staying with us , she is almost 4.

We have barely been out of our pjs since Thursday Shock niece has been out the house seeing her dad & my dd has come on the car journey with us Blush

I've no money to take them anywhere nice as we are a few days away from pay day .

I'm also feeling a bit rubbish with an ear infection .

I've asked the DC if they want to go out today - they said no .

I asked if they wanted to play in the garden . They said no .

They've said they want to stay in their pjs and have a pj day .

Part of me is pleased as I feel rubbish , the other part of me thinks we really need to get out .

The DC have specifically said they don't even want to pop out on their bikes .

We are going out tomorrow.

We are back to school on Monday where we will be back to a flurry of school runs and after school activities .

WIBU to have another day in ? Blush

Surely a quick trip to the local park for some fresh air and exercise would make you all feel better?

I would take them out tbh.
Is there a local park?
Then turf them in the garden when you get back and gave a nice cup of tea Grin

If you really feel shit and stay in, get them dressed at least.

Have a day in, think of it as a relaxing day ready for the rush of school on Monday- play some games, maybe bake biscuits (not necessary) and watch movies- enjoy!!!

I've only had one total pj day with my dc and it made my teeth itch. Just not for me, at the very least I'd get them dressed into comfy joggers and a jumper.

I think it's great to do this sometimes but three days in a row is a bit much IMO.

If they're happy and your happy then do it! One day without a walk outside has never hurt anybody, we do it all the time.

Oooohhh mixed responses - I was hoping for a whole thread of "stay in" to ease my conscience ! Grin

The park is a fair walk away and it looks so coooollllldddd out Sad

YANBU at all. I don't get why some people are against lazy days for kids. There are so many posts from parents on here who crave a day to just relax at home without having to go anywhere - I don't see why kids can't want to do the same occasionally.

So long as they get out and get exercise the rest of the time, a couple of lazy days at home are fine - enjoy!

I'd hate that, I don't mind staying home all dsy but that would include time in the garden or nearby park / walk to shop and definitely everyone fully dressed, I'd have to be very ill indeed to spend the day in pjs.

Sorry, I'm one for getting them washed and dressed even if you stay in. Pjs all day would make me depressed and lethargic. Like the suggestion of baking, at least you'll feel like you've done something productive?

You know your kids. Mine would go stir crazy and be absolute pains in the neck by about 2pm if they were in all day. If they won't give you grief later I would go for it.

More than one day in a row is unreasonable, sorry. If they were teens maybe but at age 4 and 5 you are able to make sure they get dressed and go out. Even if not the park just take scooters to the shops and back?

I feel depressed if I do this especially if it has been the same since Thursday. 3 days in a row is quite a lot.

But each to his own - my kids are definitely better if we have at least one trip out of the house

I think it's fine. Let them relax and have a chilled out day if that's what they want, I know mine are knackered at the moment, with the end of the holidays. If they start going stir crazy and you feel a bit better then take them out for a bit later.

I agree more than one day is unreasonable. I had to do about three days two years ago in a freezing and icy December because I had no money, no car and I was terrified of DD (2 at the time) slipping on ice but I'd never do it voluntarily.

Och if your not feeling great stay in you can get them dressed later if they are getti g fidgety and turf them out into the garden for a while, I hate not getting dressed though it makes me feel worse

This would definitely make me feel worse rather than better.

Also, in Mintyy world, children of 4 and 5 are told what they are going to do, not asked what they want to do (within reason of course!), the grown ups make the choices.

But at the same time yanbu. Although you obviously feel a bit guilty about this or else why would you be asking?
