To let my DC stay in their PJs all day ... Again?

AssaultedCaramel · 05/09/2015 09:34

...fresh ones !Grin

Dd is 5 and I have my niece staying with us , she is almost 4.

We have barely been out of our pjs since Thursday Shock niece has been out the house seeing her dad & my dd has come on the car journey with us Blush

I've no money to take them anywhere nice as we are a few days away from pay day .

I'm also feeling a bit rubbish with an ear infection .

I've asked the DC if they want to go out today - they said no .

I asked if they wanted to play in the garden . They said no .

They've said they want to stay in their pjs and have a pj day .

Part of me is pleased as I feel rubbish , the other part of me thinks we really need to get out .

The DC have specifically said they don't even want to pop out on their bikes .

We are going out tomorrow.

We are back to school on Monday where we will be back to a flurry of school runs and after school activities .

WIBU to have another day in ? Blush

I may turf them out in to the back garden against their wills

I don't think I could manage walking out and about - my ear is sore and it's windy out - it will be painful .

I'm also dizzy as well so don't want to wander too far in case I get wobbly !

Yes , I do feel guilty though Blush

Op asked if she was bu. Some people said they wouldn't do it (just as a different perspective) I didn't see anyone being horrible to op. But that makes them "Mumsnet super mums" - why the sarcasm? It's so unpleasant.

Mintyy · 05/09/2015 10:07

Ok if you feel wobbly then don't go to far then. Hope you feel better soon.

AssaultedCaramel · 05/09/2015 10:08

I hope it rains and I'll put all the playmo in the conservatory for them .

They want to play on Xbox all day - now that is where I draw the line Grin

too far

PacificDogwood · 05/09/2015 10:09

Ach, don't feel guilty!
This will not do them any harm.
And when you feel ready to go out, you tell them that's what's happening Grin
Hope you feel better soon.

AsTimeGoesBy · 05/09/2015 10:09

In that case stay in. I'd interpreted things as just feeling a bit under the weather, in which case for me getting some fresh air usually makes me feel better. I always feel much better dressed though, staying in PJs just makes me feel more ill, but if you prefer it then that's fine. Hope you feel better soon.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/09/2015 10:10

Stay in, OP, have a lovely time at home and don't feel guilty about it. Small children have busy lives what with school an' all. Chilling together for a few days won't hurt.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 05/09/2015 10:10

Are you asking them would they like to go out or would they like to go out or happy to have a lazy day

It's so easy to manipulate young children by asking a question then by giving them an option telling them the answer you want with the following question Grin

I would get them out for a little bit they are good to have to recharge batteries we really enjoyed our pj day last week one maximum two days should be enough

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/09/2015 10:11

And dont put them in the garden just because (some of) MN has told you to.

Hope you feel better soon.

My girls love pyjama days. We watch silly movies, play board games, read, they make dens - they entertain themseves. Kids have the most wonderful imaginations, if you give them time to discover it!

And if you're not well, even more reason to have a jammie day.

Mrsjayy · 05/09/2015 10:15

I wouldnt take kids out if I had an ear infection .

AssaultedCaramel · 05/09/2015 10:18

Grin I definitely didn't lead them in my questioning .... Although I do normally say "this is what we are doing "...

But because I'm happy to stay in today too, I have asked them if they would like to go out / garden / bikes etc Grin

Nothing wrong with PJ days! Personally I'm impressed you can get 4-5 y/os to stay in the house and chill out all day!

Hope you feel better soon OP Smile

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 05/09/2015 10:24

Just guide them gently to the garden and close the door until they want to come in Smile

Ear infections are utter pants poor you

babyboomersrock · 05/09/2015 10:26

Are you on your own, OP? Isn't there someone else who could get the dc out for a while for a change of scene?

I'd find it depressing to stay in pyjamas for 3 days and I don't really get why you'd bother changing into fresh ones when it would be just as easy to put clothes on. Don't you go shopping? Don't people ever visit?

In any case, if you're ill, you need help and shouldn't have been left with your niece to look after as well as your own dd.

ohtheholidays · 05/09/2015 10:33

If they're happy and you feel ill stay in!Smile

And I say that as a Mum who has never had a PJ day in my life and has 5DC.

ohtheholidays · 05/09/2015 10:34

Hope you feel better soon to OP,ear infections are vile and yours sounds paticularly nasty.Hope you have something you can take for it.

AssaultedCaramel · 05/09/2015 10:35

Yep on my own today as DH is working away this weekend .

We change to fresh ones after they've had a play in the bath . They prefer pjs than getting dressed .

It's only really worked out like this since Thursday , as niece has been to her dads at sporadic times so I've been driving back and forth for two days , so dd has chilled with me at home .

No family or friends near to help . No visitors . And I do online shopping Grin

Usually I hate staying at home , but I'm feeling rubbish ,and the DC said they don't want to go out .

If they had asked to go out , I would have made an effort to get dressed and so something but they're happy to chill in the house .

We're now building Lego .

ohtheholidays never ?? Shock

How do you manage ?? What do you do every single day ?

Dd is like me , a home bird . I love PJ days when we've been out all week and there's nothing to do and no spends anyway

ShelaghTurner · 05/09/2015 10:42

We've been in the house since Tuesday as DD1 can't walk at the moment. I am going slowly mad. Going to supermarket soon and can't bloody wait.

But to answer the question, in theory they've been in pjs since Tuesday night although in practice DD2 has been mostly naked! Smile

swimmerforlife · 05/09/2015 10:42

Stay in OP, your ill and you are not going to get any better by trudging down to the park if the weather's shit especially if they aren't fussed about going out either.

Maybe kick them out into the garden in the afternoon where they can muck about for half an hour.

I love a good pj day!

nokidshere · 05/09/2015 10:44

PJ day without a doubt Grin why should anyone do anything if they don't want to?
They are happy to chill and play so let them get in with it. Nothing wrong with x-boxing for a few hours either ????

They have the next 7 weeks to get up, dressed, work, clubs, homework - a few pj days won't do any harm at all!
