If you were part of the Mumsnet community and unhappy with the way things were being dealt with wouldn't you have said 'they are protecting themselves not us' rather than 'they are protecting themselves not you' ? Reads like an outsider wishing to push an agenda.

I am still trying to translate what they meant in the garbled first bit about Lavender too where they contradict themselves.

Get back to you about what? You may have noticed that they have been a bit busy these last couple of days.

You can deregister and wait for their email just as easily as waiting for their email while still a member of this website.

I tried at about 9.30 this morning. The deregister page takes you to the biscuit page. MNHQ are asking you to email them. I'm not harassing them, I don't think that deregistering now will do anything for this particular attack it's just that personally I don't feel my details are secure for the future, there are other reasons that I want to deregister but not to do with this.

While I was checking the thread about the hacking, I saw this and thought I'd have peek. I REALLY wish I hadn't.

I really can't imagine they're prioritising deregistering now after office hours. I can imagine that lots of the team will be working through after a very long and stressful day and will be dealing with ensuring the site is safe as well as continuing to moderate the whole site.
