I bet there are a lot of men around the globe sweating today!

howtorebuild · 19/08/2015 13:53

I think this person is a hacker.

sliceofsoup · 19/08/2015 13:55

yeah, i should really read the usernames, but i very rarely do

AttitcusFinchIsMyFather · 19/08/2015 13:55

IP adresses are pretty much meaningless, mine shows me living about 30 miles away.

BoredAdminGirl · 19/08/2015 13:56

Gloating about this while our information is being posted everywhere in just such a hack is vile

I'm certainly not gloating.

MNpostingbot is decidedly dodgy. Not a convincing last post either to deflect.

NerrSnerr · 19/08/2015 13:58

I didn't read the OP as gloating and MNpostingbot is a regular poster. Although I don't agree with finding where someone is through their IP address it does show what can be done with the information.

BoredAdminGirl · 19/08/2015 13:59

I feel quite uncomfortable with the last few posts MNpostingbot has posted

Although I don't agree with the morals or AM users I think it's awful whats happened on here and there, posting things you think are private and being quite candid whilst believing you are anonymous and then realising this is not the case is awful.

BoredAdminGirl · 19/08/2015 14:06

I agree. I'm sure a lot of MN users would be just as mortified to have their posts leaked.

This is a little like a personal diary!

Deeznutz · 19/08/2015 14:11

MNpostingbot might usually be a regular poster but we don't know who is currently using the account going by previous efforts.

^ This!

This is true, plus they made a comment about the town a particular poster lives in. Rather threatening

OP posts:
Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 14:15

And I've just been called ridiculous for highlighting the concerns around MNpostingbot's comments about the IP addresses in another thread. I was told
to ask for it to be deleted which it has.

BoredAdminGirl · 19/08/2015 14:16

It took me 3 clicks to pinpoint where a particularly known MNer is posting from, no wonder she's so miserable, I would be if I lived in that particularly miserable North west town

Snoopadoop I am not gloating

You were called ridiculous (by me) for refusing to ask for a thread to be deleted in which you wrongly claimed another MNer was the hacker and was threatening to access MNers facebook and bank accounts. Which clearly is not the case. There is a high level of panic on MN at the moment, demonstrated very well by your own knee jerk panicked aformetioned thread. There really is no justification for keeping a thread going that is clearly accusing someone in the wrong. Thankfully HQ agree.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 14:23

As I had said I was just trying to make sure more people saw the issue with the IP addresses. I thought I was being helpful. I had asked for it to be deleted before you were so rude as to call me ridiculous. Give yourself a slow round of applause for being so condescending.

Deeznutz · 19/08/2015 14:28

You can't just put an IP address in google to find out the location of a poster.

This indicates an altogether more suspect motive/individual.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 14:28

Im glad you saw sense. You were being ridiculous when you insisted on keeping the thread though. It was scaremongeing, with false information. It served no purpose at all and was likely to create more panic.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 14:31

I guess I should be flattered that you chose to spend so much time on having a go at me though. Three times. On two different threads.

Deeznutz · 19/08/2015 14:32

CURLYSUE- you do not know who is currently using that account. Go back and read the posts.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 14:41

I have read the comments. Are you saying that poster's account has been hacked? This has been confirmed?

Deeznutz · 19/08/2015 14:43

There is a possibility. Have reported.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 14:43

We don't know. The posts have now been deleted.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 14:58

Probably because it was more scaremongering and lay on the goady side of the rules. Theres enough panicking going on without MNers saying "well i i wanted to i could do x,y and z right now"
