I bet there are a lot of men around the globe sweating today!

This is a little like a personal diary!

In reality it isn't though, it's a public forum on which anyone can post.

BoredAdminGirl · 19/08/2015 15:02

Posting publicly yes, to usernames and people that know nothing about you or who you are. So in a tiddly way it is similar.

*creeps away slowly so not to disturb the grumpy MNers on this thread

I for one think that anyone highlighting what could happen isn't scaremongering, forearmed is forewarned and all that. I WANT to know the worse-case scenario. I've tried to deregister this morning because I'm not convinced that MNHQ know's exactly what's happening either. Despite trying my account is still active.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 15:07

Right, so why post a thread accusing the person who did just that of being a hacker? Confused

sliceofsoup · 19/08/2015 15:11

What does de-regging achieve though?

Email addresses are asked for and given out all the time. If your password was on the list, and you use the same one across multiple accounts then you are at risk, but that isn't mumsnets fault. Nor will it be solved by de-regging.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 15:14

For fucks sake?!! Seriously??

  1. I said straight away I didn't think the person could do what they were threatening to do. Just that we should be more vigilant.

  2. I then (again pretty much straight away) I was mistaken about the poster DEFINITELY being the hacker

  3. I then explained that I had started another thread to highlight the issue with the IP address because this thread was about something completely different and I felt more people should know about the issues.

  4. I then received abuse from you and deleted the thread that you deemed ridiculous.

The fact of the matter is that no-one knows if this poster was hacked or not. MNHQ are looking into it.

What more do you want?

CerseiLannistersEyebrow · 19/08/2015 15:16

MNbotposter is a dick swinging man.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 15:17

I absolutely do not think this mumsnet's fault. This has just made me realise that I don't wish to be part of this community anymore. I've asked to be dereigestered and my posting history deleted.

Notthehacker · 19/08/2015 15:21

Mnpostingbot appears to have been culled by the MN police, along with that thread.

Lavender is quite correct, mnpostingbot had not been hacked, not were they the hacker. They were simply taking this a lot more seriously than MN appear to have taken this breach. yes yes, "keyboards are on fire", but mainly to ban those that are actually sharing useful and truthful information about the danger this breach presents. They are much more concerned by a decline in people using the site and the resultant loss of income.

They are protecting themselves, not you.

Postingbot said that a poster lives in a northwest town. How is that threatening? How does that breach their privacy?

If you don't think you can find an IP address location in Google, you are naive. Go to ip-tracker.org, two clicks. Bot is not some master hacker, believe me.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 15:26

I said straight away I didn't think the person could do what they were threatening to do. Just that we should be more vigilant.

Right, you seem to have misunderstood what that person was saying. They werent saying "i am going to..." They were saying "look this is how easy it is to do this stuff, i could do it right now if i wanted" it is like someone pointing out that your purse is visible in your open handbag and saying "i could take that so easily" not nice to have it pointed out but they arent threatening to take it, they are showing you how vulnerable to theft you are. they were the ones highlighting what could be done, you misunderstood the post, panicked and made a knee jerk reaction by posting the other thread. I get why you did it, you thought it was a threat but it wasnt so no point keeping the thread going, especially when it named a MNer.

I then received abuse from you

please do not lie. You received no abuse from me. I said you were being ridiculous.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 15:37

I have explained my actions 3 times now and why I did it. You have now called ridiculous and repeated it numerous times on two different threads. I call that abuse.

I am now going to treat you like the minor irritant you are and ignore you.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 15:40

Good. No more lies from you then Wink

dilbert19912 · 19/08/2015 15:48

An SNP Mp has been named as one of the AM leaked, she says it's a malicious plot and must have been planted there basically.

I believe you....thousands wouldn't.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 15:54

I completely agree with you Notthehacker MNHQ are not taking this breach as seriously as they should. I'm actually considering posting something really offensive so I get banned. It would be a lot quicker than de-registering!

sliceofsoup · 19/08/2015 16:20

If you don't want to be a part of this community Lavender, why are you still here and posting?

You want to post something offensive to get banned... Confused

Here's a thought, log out and get on with your day. They will de reg you when they can, there is a lot going on and they are busy.

NickiFury · 19/08/2015 16:23

Oh for crying out loud, OP is not gloating, she's making an observation and I don't believe there's a single person who saw that it had happened and didn't think the same.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 16:25

I'm still here because as long as my account is on here I want to be kept up to date with news on the hacking incident.

Sorry I realise I should have included a Wink to ensure every would realise it was a joke/sarcasm when I mentioned getting banned.

I will disappear when I am confident that my account is no longer valid

Sorry for the inconvenience.

GarminGirl · 19/08/2015 16:28

Think Netmums sounds appealing at the moment, might go and have a peek

You'll disappear anyway when your account is no longer valid, whether youre confident or not! Grin

Deeznutz · 19/08/2015 16:40

Has it been confirmed that MNpostingbot hasn't been hacked because I can't see that information?

How about sockpuppeting?

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 16:42

Nope it's not been confirmed that I can see.

SurlyCue · 19/08/2015 16:42

Nothing has been posted by MNHQ regarding MNpostingbot

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 16:46

My heart seriously does go out to anyone whose personal lives could be affected by either the Mumsnet or Ashley Maddison website hacks. It could be awful for them.

Lavenderice · 19/08/2015 16:48

Of course it is already awful for the victims of the 'swattings' Flowers
