Aibu to want this presenter fired...

I'm all for freedom of speech but I think as a radio presenter on BBC you do need to have some standards. He describes (from minutes 9-12) how breastfeeding is 'unnatural' and 'guys' don't want to see it in public. He describes a situation on a bus with a larger lady breastfeeding. He's not a rent a gob guest- he's the presenter. So aibu to want him off the airwaves?

He is being deliberately ridiculous though.

catellington · 12/08/2015 21:09

MrsKoala that's a good point. His views are contrary to equality legislation, how on earth can this be ok?

CupboardOfLoveliness · 12/08/2015 21:10

There is a protocol to this though. Breasts all over the place isn't great either. I had babies but chose to feed discretely.

It isnt ok to scream rights or sacking...

WorraLiberty · 12/08/2015 21:10

He did invent the dance to oops upside your head though...

Thanks for the info

Now I know who to send my dry cleaning bills to Grin

Snakebite was a bugger to get out.

Oh I read the opportunity and thought I bet this was Alex Dike! He's such an old dinosaur. Incredibly sexist too.

HedgehogAtHome · 12/08/2015 21:14

I had babies but chose to feed discretely.

As opposed to what though? Squirting it in from across the room while judges hold up numbers?

My breasts have never been all over the place, they're attached to me and for feeding to work the nipple has to be in baby's mouth.

When people say they did it discretely I just imagine them standing in the corner, facing the wall with a lampshade on their head.

catellington · 12/08/2015 21:15

CupboardOfLoveliness but he is saying a woman quietly feeding a baby on a bus is 'unnatural'

Also there are no breastfeeding referees judging whether there is too much on show and I think the vast majority of people do feed discretely, not that they should do so. Where are all these exhbitionist breastfeeders!?

I don't like all this modern calling for people to be fired and I don't particularly care one way or the other about breastfeeding but I must agree that this guy sounds like a bit of a neanderthal.

WorraLiberty · 12/08/2015 21:21

So I take it he's been campaigning tirelessly to ban all those indiscreet breasts from page 3 of The Sun?

Nope, I thought not...

Princess28 · 12/08/2015 21:22

But worra- they are not larger ladies!

CupboardOfLoveliness · 12/08/2015 21:24

Of course he is but guess what, it takes allsorts to make a world. We all have our opinions and its cool with me. Im not a screamer to say "I pay for the BBC" and he needs to be sacked person either.

BF discreetly means.. dont get your tits out to the world whilst doing it.

CupboardOfLoveliness · 12/08/2015 21:25

Fucking hell, you would make a person loose their job because of one error? what a world we live in.

ShipShapeAhoy · 12/08/2015 21:25

The breastfeeding debate has made me really hate the word 'discreet'. I don't mean that as a response to your post worra btw, I'm just sick of reading it. It seems like breastfeeding is the only thing we're expected to be discreet about, because you know, it's so disgusting to actually see women using their breasts the way nature intended.... But don't use formula though because that's wrong too...

CaptainHolt · 12/08/2015 21:26

My point was fat Chavvy mums with their boobs out on buses isn't a good look. A classy discret mum is absolutely fine.

From his FB page, but it's just his opinion, right?

ShipShapeAhoy · 12/08/2015 21:26

Ok since I started writing my post is no longer just after worra's... Blush

dancelikenooneiswatching · 12/08/2015 21:27

He has a phone-in show and his mission in life is to wind his listeners up into a frenzy of indignation, the more they bite the more line he feeds them. His comments are usually so outrageously ridiculous that it always amazes me that anyone takes him seriously and bothers to phone in to argue with him. I was surprised though that nobody phoned in and took issue with the listener who described a woman breastfeeding on a bus as "a big, black, African", as though that had any bearing on the subject.

Yesterday his producer seemed to discover MN for the first time and they were giggling about how they wanted to start up various threads pretending to be women with various problems, to see what replies they would get. I don't know if they did, my MN crashed and I couldn't get on yesterday

GarminGirl · 12/08/2015 21:27

He's actually Katie Hopkins brother

Oliversmumsarmy · 12/08/2015 21:28

From what has been written AD is stating facts not opinions. "Breast feeding is unnatural" "guys don't like it" big difference from him having an opinion on something to him actually stating something that he proclaims as the truth.

Does he think that there might be an opening for his own tv show if he emulates KP

Oliversmumsarmy · 12/08/2015 21:29

KH not KP

CupboardOfLoveliness · 12/08/2015 21:30

Discreet is a great word for it. No one wants to see anyone elses tits. So discreet is good.

WorraLiberty · 12/08/2015 21:30

There's a petition here
