I'm sorry it's perfectly avoidable, I have never watched a single bloody episode of BGT and haven't watched XFactir in years both of those get far far more attention than GBBO yet I don't notice wether any magazine covers them, I couldn't tell you a single contestant.
You don't like it fine there's something like 100 other channels to watch I presume your capable of turning a page in the radio times without reading it.

Well I feel much the same about the Tennis, the Golf, the Football, the Rugby and especially the flipping Olympics. Do you know what I do, when the rest of the country is obsessed? I disengage and change the channel - there are plenty of choices nowadays.
I am a cook (amateur and family) not a sporty person. Can't you have the teeniest bit of empathy?

YANBU. I only know its on because most of my facebook friends are talking about it. And you can guarantee it'll be on the news tomorrow and for the rest of the fucking series.
I hate cooking, even baking. No chance I'm gonna sit and watch some people I dont know bake.

In fairness, it's on once a year for, what, ten or twelve weeks, and is avoidable compared to, say, the Premier League season, which lasts forever, gets entire radio stations devoted to it, endless tv coverage, and featured on the news and in newspapers alongside actual news. GBBO is small beer in comparison. People might tweet about a melted Baked ALaska, but there aren't hours of talk radio featuring fans frothing at the mouth over bad refereeing decisions on Victoria sponge.
