to not get bake off

I've tried, I really have. I cannot stand it or understand its enormous appeal. I wish it would fuck off back to BBC2 and that radio times would stop featuring it every bloody week.

I think you must be a tiny bit dead inside not to love GBBO. Wink

The80sweregreat · 05/08/2015 21:32

Agree there is too much hype over these big shows. I hate cooking, but i do enjoy bake off. Strictly x factor and this started off just programmes, but the more popular they get, the more it seems they have to go on and on about it and incorporate it into other programmes, the newspapers, the actual news! They are just entertainment at the end of the day.

YABU. I love it. And whoever dissed Mary Berry needs to be taken outside and shot. She's a legend.

But then I guess I also love baking.

I love the British Sewing Bee too! How d'ya like them onions?! Eh?!

Mary for Prime Minister! Grin

TooOldForGlitter · 05/08/2015 21:35

I think it's shite too. Don't like Mary Berry or that smarmy beardy looking bloke. It's turn off the tv time for me.

JollyGolightly · 05/08/2015 21:38

I've only seen it once and it was utter shite. Totally bemused by its appeal.

I didn't watch the first three series, as I don't normally watch either cookery or reality programmes. I watched last year's series and enjoyed it.

When it was the 2012 Olympics I felt like the only person in the UK who had zero interest in the games, didn't watch a minute of it and didn't get what all the fuss was about. The same with any other sport. I can't understand its enormous appeal but I just have to accept that it will be discussed a lot and plastered over the Radio Times.

SunshineAndShadows · 05/08/2015 21:49

Sewing Bee and GBBO are the only reality shows I watch.

Totally bored by X factor, BGT, big brother, or any of the fake-famous TOWIE/ Geordie shore/Chelsea bump ties and they are EVERYWHERE in every magazine, all the time.

Love the passion and actual talent on GBBO and sewing bee and the fact that the contestants really enjoy their craft rather than just wanting to be famous

chipsandpeas · 05/08/2015 21:52

i dont get it either....i did enjoy when they done it for comic relief but think that was due to the people involved and the cause

sitting watching people make cakes just make me want to eat cake

slippermaiden · 05/08/2015 21:56

Heathens the lot of you!

Mummatron3000 · 05/08/2015 21:57

Paul Hollywood gives me the boke
For that reason alone I won't watch it!

Ruledbycatsandkids6 · 05/08/2015 21:59

Oh love love it. And the apprentice and the jungle, and X Factor and sewing bee and BGT. I don't get out much! Grin

laffymeal · 05/08/2015 22:00

Yessssss!!! Someone else is delivered "the boak" by that Hollywood arse.

FeelingSmurfy · 05/08/2015 22:03

I don't watch sport, BGT, X-Factor, Big Brother, strictly, I'm a celebrity... Or anything like that, I just watch something else or read, plenty of other people must enjoy or it wouldn't be on

I enjoy bake off, I do like cooking/baking and I have picked up tips from it. I like that they will actually help each other even though they are in a competition, that the judges always seem to find something nice to say "well its raw on the inside and burned on the outside...but the flavour is spot on"

I am surprised by how popular it is, first series I thought would be the only series, and I thought it would just be people who liked baking/cooking that would watch, but it has got loads of new people interested

DaysAreWhereWeLive · 05/08/2015 22:04

I can't watch it because it makes me boak when Mary bites cake with the side of her mouth to protect her falsers. Ugh. Blush

OldBloodCallsToOldBlood · 05/08/2015 22:07

I'm with BeaufortBelle. It's almost impossible to avoid all the sports coverage which is on throughout the year. Fill our channels with baking instead! Grin Cake Biscuit

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 05/08/2015 22:10

I said the same thing on fuckbook earlier and was flamed. It's utterly boring and I LOVE baking!

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 05/08/2015 22:12

I can't stand Mary Berry and the way she says "layers" as "Lairs"

She is like something out of the 1950s which of course she is.

And I utterly utterly loathe Sue and Mel and their silly voices.

stealthsquiggle · 05/08/2015 22:13

Whole family GBBO obsession in this house. That and Eurovision - no reality TV, no sport (except the 6 nations), no soaps, nothing else (except possibly OnlyConnect) unites everyone.

As many others have said - if you don't like it, don't watch. Leave us that do in peace Grin

DadfromUncle · 05/08/2015 22:14

BeaufortBelle I don't like any spectator sports, or daft baking shows, even though I like baking.
