To ask your opinion on this very important site issue?

So mumsnet have recently changed the option to highlight both OP's and your own posts in a specific colour. They claim that only 8% of posters use this feature and hence it's unneeded.

I and some others disagree So please if you would, can you answer the following questions for me? Either to protest the change or to support MNHQ, I don't mind, just interested in this 8%. Copy and paste your answer.

Do you use the highlight posts feature?

If yes
Yes, I tried it, but I didn't like it.
Yes, I use it on the desktop and mobile site but not the app.

Not interested in a highlighting option.
Only use the app and it's not an option on there.

Yes, I would like to keep it - I have the OP and my posts a different colour and am easily confused, so would like to keep it that way.

they are still acting as though hardly anybody uses it

I still think they said that few people chose the custom colour option, not that few people chose to use the highlight option at all.

Thanks Bertie. I understand now. I just keep unticking the watch this thread box which I presume is part of this whole thing.

Did MNHQ test this or do their own survey before making these changes?

& I have my 2 chosen different colours currently. They're not removing that option are they?

Yes and I would like to keep it. Want to be able to choose colours too, currently use green for OPs posts and purple for my posts

If it went I would be less inclined to trawl through long threads where I want to see updates from OP. I hate when the OP name changes mid thread and is no longer highlighted.

I mainly use the app and would love to have this feature on there - and to be able to see pictures!

The custom colour option has gone as it was only used by a very small number of posters (around 8%) and it wasn't available on the mobile version at all. The removal of highlight from customise was an error on our part, apologies for that.

So, the removal of the whole option was a temporary glitch and only 8% chose the custom colour option.

Yes, I use it! I want to keep it! I only highlight the OP's posts, but it's brilliant on long threads.

Definitely don't want to lose this functionality. I'm not going to dare touch anything in customise for fear of my colours getting all messed up!

I use it. I find it incredibly helpful - I always try, at least, to read every post an OP has made and that helps enormously. I think it should be the default and you can opt out from it, actually. So much hurt/embarrassment/redundancy is caused by people responding to a thread where hugely relevant info has come out, or an OP's position has shifted or they have apologised, and new posters don't realise. It makes for a more constructive posting situation, I think. And if only 8% use it, it's probably because they don't know it's there, surely?
