To hate when neighbours sign for my parcels

Especially neighbours I do not even know. I understand it's a nice thing some do but if you aren't in all day then I have to constantly go back and forth knocking on the door hoping you are in.
It's so annoying, why can't people just refuse it? I refuse to do it only my upstairs neighbour I sign for because we have a communal bit that I can leave the parcel for when he returns.
A neighbour few doors down signed for my expensive parcel from harrods and hasn't been in since it was signed for at 11am
Should I leave a note?

i hate it too, I always tell delivery firms not to leave it with a neighbour, and ask neighbours to refuse it.

I think it depends on your neighbours and living area. I would rather my neighbours took it in for me than have to venture to the seventh circle of hell the sorting office which is a bloody nightmare to get to, or some random depot, miles away. Especially as I don't drive.

But we know all our neighbours well and get on with them. If that isn't the case, or if I was in a block of flats for example, I can see your point.

I think the onus is on you to ensure that you let the delivery company know that you do not want them to deliver elsewhere if you are not home. Could you put a note through their door with your mobile number asking them to let you know when they are home rather than having to go back and forth?

I sign for parcels as I work from home and I know most of my neighbours appreciate it, but if any of them asked me not to I would try not to, but sometimes they don't actually tell you who the package is for until you've already signed for it, and I am usually trying to stop a naked toddler from escaping from my house as I sign.

I sign for anybody in my stair if the driver asks.

Yabu complaining about an eight hour delay in getting a parcel your neighbour signed for - if they'd refused it would be AT LEAST 24hrs before you'd get it.

Whaat? You would rather queue at the sorting office/ rearrange delivery than thank your neighbour for taking in a parcel for you? YABVU.

You can get a sticker from Royal Mail to stick on your letter box which in theory means that the post delivery person will not leave it with a neighbour.

YANBU, but I live 2 min walk from sorting office ,and I hate being disturbed to take in other neighbours parcels.....like I said, 2 min walk to sorting office; it's not really a hardship.

If i'm home i take parcels for my neighbours even though we don't particularly get on and they do the same for me. Same with our bins, whoever puts their bin out first does the other ones too.

So tell your neighbours that OP. Generally, not signing for parcels is considered rude (at least where I live).

You're waiting for an expensive item from harrods, don't have an alternative address in place and there is no tracking, text or phone call when it's being delivered and you couldn't be arsed to be in for it?

YABU If it was super important why weren't you in? 11am is not school run time. I sign for neighbours 2 doors in each direction as I know them. I don't sign for anyone else. If they didn't sign you wouldn't get it before tomorrow anyway.

I've sometimes had to drive 20 minutes to random courier offices to collect parcels I've missed. Your neighbors are kindly trying to save you the same fate.

It's harrods OBVIOUSLY there is tracking and no they don't call you, since when has parcel force called anyone.

It's a decent and neighbourly thing to do.

I'm grateful if any of mine do this as it saves me the bother of trekking to the sorting office which is not on the way to anywhere I need to be or rearranging the delivery.
