To asks which bits of your house never get cleaned?

I consider myself pretty clean and tidy but MIL has unearthed some areas that are obviously my blind spot this week:

  • freezer drawer in fridge (all frozen up)
  • washing machine drawer (not black but a couple of mouldy bits)
  • mop bucket (again not filthy but some ingrained dirt was in there)
  • bottom of cleaning cupboard floor
  • cobwebs in kitchen corners

Do you have any areas in which it never occurs to you to clean? I want to go check if I have more!

Behind my TV cabinet, it's a nightmare must get done once a yearBlush it's always covered with dust!! But heyho

Pepperonipeteczar · 19/06/2015 09:32

Jesus! I haven't cleaned behind the TV in years, I don't even want to look behind there.

BertrandRussell · 19/06/2015 09:34

My mother used to visit me regularly. She was amazing at making a house look lovely and mine always did, even after she became too frail to do much. After she stopped being able to visit, I was conscious of grubbiness that I couldn't identify. Until I realised that I had never cleaned the outside of the bins or any of the light switches, electric plugs or door handles but she did every time she visited. It was amazing the difference it made......

Behind the TV is somewhere I don't normally do and it wouldn't occur to me to clean the mop bucket. I have recently moved into a new build and I'm really keeping on top of the cleaning. I'm cleaning things I would normally ignore as I want to keep it all new and shiny. Probably won't last long though.

^^

TheOddity · 19/06/2015 09:38

Yup. That's two more on my list. Obviously not as clean as I thought Grin

Behind the fridge and cooker.

DontOpenDeadInside · 19/06/2015 09:43

I'm only 5' so anything above that Wink seriously, high cupboards, on top of the fridge, photo frames on the wall, minging lol. I only clean them if someone tall is visiting, which is rare as we're a family of short arses.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 19/06/2015 09:46

Under the fridge.
Behind the wardrobe in our bedroom. It's a triple and solid wood, it would need taking to pieces to it!
The velux windows at the front on the outside. They're in the roof and would need scaffolding to reach from outside. I'm tiny and can't manage to get my arm through enough! They're covered in bird shit too Blush

StarlingMurmuration · 19/06/2015 09:48

Dusting the skirting boards. I do it very occasionally when I notice they're proper filthy but it certainly wouldn't occur to me to do it regularly.

fairyfuckwings · 19/06/2015 09:49

Since I have the world's crappest cleaners there's quite a long list of things that never get cleaned: windows, venetian blinds, tiles, Skirting boards, leather sofas, doors, cupboard fronts, underneath or behind any object - big or small, mirrors, outside of the toilets and sinks etc etc

I'm having a party tomorrow and have been cleaning every night. My house us beyond grim....

TheOddity · 19/06/2015 10:05

I got quite a bit of satisfaction just now cleaning the light switches but no way am I ever pulling out the fridge or wardrobes. Do people do that?!

HemlockStarglimmer · 19/06/2015 10:21

There is no part of my house that is never cleaned.

However, there are many parts of my house that are only cleaned every few years.

ohtheholidays · 19/06/2015 10:40

I clean behind and under everything,I have OCD passed on I think from my Nan and my Mum.My DH pulls the cooker,fridge/freezer out for me when I want to clean behind and under them and he sticks them back away for me again.

Lancelottie · 19/06/2015 10:48

DH's side of the bedroom.

I think I'll build a wall.

meercat23 · 19/06/2015 10:53

I am so pleased to know that I am not the only one that has bits that rarely/never get attention.

Fern I thought the point of Velux windows was that they swivelled round so you can do both sides? Don't yours do that? Mind you, we have one in our bathroom and the outside only gets done when I notice that the room looks dimmer than usual!

meercat23 · 19/06/2015 10:54

I meant bits of my house of course!

justbatteringon · 19/06/2015 10:58

My walls are so grubby my toddler takes great delight in rubbing his sticky chocolate fruit covered hands all over them. I just can't get around to them I do try to clean the light switches and plugs though.

ZombiePiglet · 19/06/2015 11:34

Way, way too much to admit to. As long as DS is not likely to catch any deadly diseases from any floors or surfaces, I consider that a success.

pillowaddict · 19/06/2015 11:37

The majority of it! Specifically behind the fridge, top of the washing machine, any kitchen cupboards (except once a year or so), under the beds, behind and under the sofa (every few months)...I am a terrible housewife and dh not much better so we do the bare minimum and get by!

mileend2bermondsey · 19/06/2015 12:58

My hoover is covered in dust which is a bit ironic.

Sparklingbrook · 19/06/2015 13:20

Under the fridge freezer
Behind the dishwasher/washing machine
Under wardrobes and beds done every few months

ouryve · 19/06/2015 13:22

Our bedroom is always bottom of the pecking order. Things get thrown in there and locked in out of the boys' reach and it ends up looking like something out of one of those hoarders programs Blush

ToysRLuv · 19/06/2015 13:25

Behind, above and under most large furniture. That is about it.

GoodToesNotSoGoodToes · 19/06/2015 13:27

I pulled the front from the washing machine soap drawer. I can't remove the drawer. Sad

My back door needs a good clean on the outside.
