As we know, men have affairs because of sex and underwear... its the woman's fault

to wonder WTAF Davina McCall is thinking here?

"I'm not eating salad"

The only people I've ever known to say that are ugly, obese and aged very badly. Always makes me chuckle

I'm only speaking from anecdotal evidence oBvs.

Guy I work with constantly says things like that, one day I'll be tempted to betell him he wouldn't look such a state if he did eat a vegetable once a week.

Crikey that's a truly depressing read, not the attitude I will be wanting my 2 teen DDs to pick up on as a model for a happy marriage! and I agree that it comes from a place of insecurity/fear. In my experience the ones who go on and on about how great their sex lives are, how wonderful their man/marriage/home/family etc are actually deeply insecure. If you KNOW all that you don't need to go spouting it to the whole world. The fact that he left his wife for her also speaks volumes. SHE knows deep down he is a cheater. She does not have the self esteem to think she is 'good enough' to keep him. She is scared of losing him. I don't think that makes him out as shallow or a nasty man, I think it is all about her feelings of self worth.
As for sex being the glue that holds a relationship together, I disagree. There is too much emphasis on perfect sex and not enough on love, trust, honesty, respect, compromise, & true companionship.

This smacks of insecurity. Just as Paula Yates/ Peaches Geldofs 'my life is so perfect and its because I do this' routine smacked of the same thing. I think sometimes these celebs are either deluded or have forgotten that they have given so much of themselves to the press that any cod psychologist could see through them.

Lots of posters are feeling sorry for Davinas DH but can you imagine what her kids will think when they get to read that king of rubbish about their parents especially when it's written by their Mother. Yuk! That would be really naff.

sebs you do know that skipping breakfast is frowned upon in health terms. I'd look at other ways of cutting calories, like reducing portion size, treats and alcohol consumption. Egg on toast is a great nutritious breakfast, or porridge and fruit. Skipping it is likely to lead to sneaky chocolate bar before lunchtime!

I remember reading an article by Gabby Yorath about how easy having twins was and how she thought women who didn't look after themselves and do a shed load of exercise after giving birth were just lazy. Hmm

As I sat surrounded by posset covered laundry and two crying babies, I really wanted to punch her in the face possible more than I've ever wanted to punch anyone before or since.

These women do not live in the real world.

YouTheCat I see your point, but whenever I "read an article" I do wonder how much of these so-called reported "comments" from celebrities is women ACTUALLY saying this.

how much of this is artificially generated/manipulated by the sub-editors or was the interviewee nodding and going "uh-huh" to something which the journalist themselves came up with?

it's the same with all the fb obsessed, the ones who post happy birthday to their gorgeous 2 yr old, or "so pleased with DCs school report" or photos of their dinner/date venue etc. Making it look like they have such a great life but on the inside, I'm not so sure they are happy.

I remember lots of pictures of her working out. If she hadn't actually said those things and meant it, surely she'd be cross at being portrayed like that?

It was in the Mirror supplement in about '95/'96.

Phantom, my fb consists of pictures of cake, cats and occasional political rantings. Grin

I think it is hard to be married to a 'star' whichever sex you are. Was not at all implying it is harder for a man. Enough women who are married to male stars seem to find it hard too. It is just an odd dynamic.

She does look good though. I already looking quite decrepit at 40, have to give her her due that she is looking good for the healthy lifestyle she's endorsing.

I hope the article twisted her words or left out a whole lot of other stuff she said about what makes a happy marriage!

I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with saying it's important not to let sex slide in a long term relationship, given that GENERALLY this seems to be more important to men than to women.

But that article really takes it to the extreme, exludes everything else, and does make rather unpleasant reading. I know for a fact my DP does not give a fuck what underwear I wear!

Davina McCall is ghastly in every possible way.

And the bloke in charge in the Vatican is a Catholic.

And ursines defecate where arboreals abound!

Ouch! I can't stand salad. I am young looking for my age. I am a petite size 10 and ugly? well, average I would say, but not ugly.

I am also pretty sure that skipping meals, even breakfast is no longer looked down on any more like it was once was.

I'm not doing well here as I hate salad and only eat one meal a day most days Grin

Thankfully, I do not wear matching underwear to keep my husband. I am lucky if my socks match.

Well u2 maybe your lucky with genes or make up for it in other areas.

I do meet a lot of guys that are strangely proud that they eat shit after shit and show off. They usually look shit so can't see the point.

I agree with you in general.

I try to eat decent home made none packaged crap to make up for my lack of fruit and veg intake. And I do eat as much veg as I can stand. It helps that I have learnt how to cook them nicely in a variety of ways which makes them more bearable.

I can laugh about it here but really, I hate my limited diet to be honest. It has caused much embarrassment and I know long term it is not good at all that I don't take in enough good nutrients. So no, it is nothing to be proud of and it is something I try to work on.

Anyway... Davina. I can't imagine living like that, being scared that your husband will run off if you don't have sex enough or always look your best. I would rather be single.

Gabby Yorath used to be a gymnast. To someone like her, not exercising would be like not eating or something. I can see why she wouldn't understand people not exercising because of the part it must have played in her whole life.

It's not twisted by an evil journalist.

She said those things during the course of an interview with free will and without the application of electrodes to genitals.

I have no idea why Davina McCall would do that but some people express the wackiest notions.

It is their prerogative. I've never used electrodes.

As a journalist, when interviewees do that, my only thought is: 'Please don't break the spell because this is really good copy'.

Agree, but it's her astounding lack of awareness that what works for her might'nt be a possibility for others that allows me not to feel guilty for saying "why's this boring, unfunny person on yet another comedy show?" whenever she's peddling yet another tedious annecdote that the others titter politely at. We all have our strengths...

So YouTheCat take a little comfort that it's odds on you're funnier than Gabby Logan. Flowers
