AIBU to think this was NOT a ploughmans lunch?

I was chatting to my sister on the phone yesterday when she mentioned she had made her kids a ploughman's lunch and they had really enjoyed it.

One of her kids is a bit of a fussy eater so I asked if he had eaten all of it, including the apple; this is when she admitted there was no apple in the ploughman's!

When I asked what was in it she listed: cheese, ham, lettuce, coleslaw, bread and pickle. No meat knocker!!!

AIBU to think a ploughman's lunch without apple and meat knocker is not actually a ploughman's lunch at all?

Agree that basic ploughmans is bread, cheese and pickle, ideally with an apple. Deluxe version adds pork pie, celery and possibly pickled onion, PLEASE clarify WTF a meat knocker is - I'm already having nightmares,

Any ploughman's lunch made by me would be cheese, more cheese, cheese on the side, nice big dod of butter and a large hunk of bread. Some sort of pickle or chutney and maybe a nice tomato or boiled egg for any one that way inclined. I'd van dyke the tomato, and put the egg in my egg slicey thing and rest it all artistically on a lettuce leaf.

But really anything past the chutney is a bit nancy.

A meat knocker is a pork pie (should be quite safe to google) No Milton no pickle onion as far as I can recall, (which, you're right, is also a marker of a ploughman's). Fair enough Art they are key ingredients but so are a knocker and an apple (the ham was just totally in the wrong place).
