School asked me for 20p

Ds is going on a field trip. I'm always really busy (aren't we all), partly because I help out with lots of community things and one is the school committee.
I spend a lot of money when funds don't come through to cover for stuff that's asked for or needed by teachers etc., it goes without saying that I have given a lot of my time at events.
School asks for money to pay for school trip. I mistakenly underpay by 20p.
I get a call from the school asking me to bring in the 20p.
AIBU to be a bit miffed.

its got to come from somewhere

Littlefish · 11/05/2015 22:07

Yes, you are being unreasonable. Just pay the 20p.

MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:08

Yes, I knew that, but do you not think that they could have wavered it on this occasion considering the fact that I have probably given hundreds in the short time my ds has been there.

Never hears the likes. I'd be annoyed too especially if you're helping out all year around Shock

mrsfuzzy · 11/05/2015 22:08

a bit petty isn't it ?

MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:09

Little fish I AM paying the 20p. That's really not the point. If you read the op again it doesn't say I don't want to pay it.

Eigg · 11/05/2015 22:09

I think personally I'd be embarrassed that I'd underpaid rather than miffed.

If you went to a tourist attraction and underpaid by 20p they'd ask you for it - what's the difference?

DirtyDancing · 11/05/2015 22:09

Yes very. Just pay 20p. God I'll even pay it for you!

MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:10

Mrsfuzzy you mean of them?

OP posts:
BadgersArse · 11/05/2015 22:10

you dont know how many parents underpay

you know what bean counters are like - ruthless.

WireCat · 11/05/2015 22:11

It's very petty isn't it.

MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:11

Dirty dancing. Again I'll say it. I am not asking should I pay and AIBU if I don't. I am going to pay it.

OP posts:
Eigg · 11/05/2015 22:12

But what if lots of people underpaid? Should those who volunteer not have to cough up?

BadgersArse · 11/05/2015 22:12

think the ' stuff i do for the school' is irrelevant, unless you are expecting a reduction off all trips?

Bair · 11/05/2015 22:12

I wonder how much the phone call cost.

Eigg I don't charitably pay tourist attractions hundreds of pounds.

OP posts:
BadgersArse · 11/05/2015 22:13

in all - just cough up - you didnt pay enough. At what point WOULD you think it is worthwhile them contacting you? £1? £5?

its like speeding at 31 in a 31 and complaining - the limit has to be set somewhere

MeggyMooAndTinkerToo · 11/05/2015 22:13

Where I work payments for school trips are paid into a specific account and the cost of the trip needs to balance with whats paid into that account. I understand what you're saying but I think YABU. If every parent mistakenly underpaid then who would pay the shortfall? I know our school couldn't afford to pay a shortfall as we have very little in the school fund.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 11/05/2015 22:13

I believe that school trips that are part of the teaching it a voluntary donation.

It looks like OP can afford to pay the extra 20p but some parents may not have been able to contribute the full amount

MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:14

Badgers it's fairly obvious I underpaid as a mistake. They know the kind of person I am and how much time and effort I put in to the school

OP posts:
MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:14

Eigg lots of people did not underpay.

TigerFeat · 11/05/2015 22:14

If you're happy to pay the money anyway why are you miffed?

Yabu.

DoMeDon · 11/05/2015 22:15

Yabu to be miffed, you underpaid they told you Confused

MoanCraft · 11/05/2015 22:15

Badgers I a, not expecting a reduction in trips. What a silly thing to say. I clearly said I underpaid by mistake.
