About my friend. She's just got engaged to her boyfriend but have only been together for 6 months. Is that really fast or am I being weird?

TywysogesGymraeg · 21/04/2015 13:23

We got engaged after 10 days. Married within 4 months. Still together 25 years later.

ouryve · 21/04/2015 13:25

Yes it's fast, but some people are faster.

ollieplimsoles · 21/04/2015 13:28

My sister moved out with her partner after 4 weeks, engaged within 4 months and pregnant within six!

bridgetsmummy · 21/04/2015 13:29

It's fast but some people just know.
I was living with dh after 4 months, engaged 2 months after that and married 10 months later.
14 years & 3 kids later we're very happy Smile

SaucyJack · 21/04/2015 13:29

You're being weird to care, certainly.

If it harm none, do what you will.

magimedi · 21/04/2015 13:29

Engaged within a month, married within 5 months & just about to celebrate our 30th!

GlitzAndGigglesx · 21/04/2015 13:29

Yes it's quick but it doesn't mean failure

honeyroar · 21/04/2015 13:30

Why are you concerned?

Boutonneux · 21/04/2015 13:31

YABU. It's none of your business Smile

TheListingAttic · 21/04/2015 13:31

Faster than average, certainly. Could have been faster! Maybe it'll prove too quick, maybe not. You may as well reserve your energies for things that are yours to control!

GloGirl · 21/04/2015 13:31

Yabu

KindergartenKop · 21/04/2015 13:35

It's not weird to care about my friend! But she seems really happy so that's fab!

Fingers crossed she needs a bridesmaid!

My parents met in December, married the following May and had me the following November. That was 33 years ago - still together now

Momagain1 · 21/04/2015 13:39

Met in February, married in November. 24 years this year. Sometimes you just know.

My first marriage was nearly as quick. Sometimes you don't.

Momagain1 · 21/04/2015 13:41

Actually, that should say : my first was nearly TWICE as quick.

Ratfinkandbobo · 21/04/2015 13:43

My parents were married within 6 months of meeting, have been together 45 yearsSmile
I must admit it is much more unusual nowadays but only time will tell!

ShouldIworryornothelp · 21/04/2015 14:47

My parents got engaged after 6 weeks. They have one of the longest happiest marriages I know of.

honeysucklejasmine · 21/04/2015 14:49

Engaged after six months, married after another eight. When you know, you know.

chelle792 · 21/04/2015 15:08

I've been with OH just under six months. We moved in together after about a month and are planning a wedding to coincide with our one year anniversary. I think when you know, you know.

StrawberryAndScream · 21/04/2015 15:11

My sister and BIL met in March, married in September, had their first DC three weeks after their first wedding anniversary and have been married for 28 years.

silverglitterpisser · 21/04/2015 16:15

Engaged after 6 months, married after 18. Definitely true that when u know, u know n we were no spring chickens so we just .....went for it! Worked out ok so far Grin .

OP, why does it bother u?

shewept · 21/04/2015 16:19

We were engaged after 3 weeks. Married 12 months after. 15th anniversary this year. Yabu ro be concerned based on just this.

KindergartenKop · 21/04/2015 16:22

Dh and I were together 6 years when we got married and I'm ultra cautious! Also I was younger. Friend isn't usually impulsive or anything so it must be right!

emwithme · 21/04/2015 16:58

I met DH in September and knew by New Year that he was The One. It took him a further 15 months to be ready (he's a couple of years younger than me). If he'd been ready when I was, I can quite easily see us being engaged within 4 months and married soon after.

StandoutMop · 21/04/2015 17:04

My dad proposed to my mum after six weeks. Married for 47 years when dad died. (Although mum did turn him down first time and made him wait 3 years Grin).
