I find myself in the predicament every year. Should I, shouldn't I? Judging by today's weather I'm not sure it's warm enough and I dont want them to be the only ones, but they really want to wear them and I honestly don't want to iron the winter uniform Wink who else is sending kids back to school tomorrow in summer uniform or are you waiting?

lurking as I've been wondering. 23 in London on Wednesday but a lot colder where we are

balletgirlmum · 12/04/2015 16:31

It's compulsory at ds's school from after easter but I don't have a dd there any more. She's in high school now where summer uniform is just an revere collar blouse instead of shirt & tie.

6LittleOnes · 12/04/2015 16:32

I'm sending mine in summer uniform. They want to wear their summer dresses and technically it is the summer term.

musicinspring1 · 12/04/2015 16:33

Please do!! Dd is desperate to wear hers so I've said yes. I don't care what the weather is doing! Plus it's boiling in their classroom anyway.... Grin Grin

bigfam · 12/04/2015 16:34

Mine are off for another week!! Envy

monsterfaery · 12/04/2015 16:35

Mine are going back in summer dresses, they've been begging to wear them since half way through last term Grin

WorraLiberty · 12/04/2015 16:35

Just send her.

Even if it turns cold, she wont freeze to death.

We always wore ours straight after Easter and the weather was always a mixed bag.

Stealthpolarbear · 12/04/2015 16:37

it'll be unpleasant playing out thou. I thought we were meant to sent them dressed appropriately

Fifis25StottieCakes · 12/04/2015 16:39

I always do, checky dress, cardi with knee high or ankle socks depending on the weather

magichandles · 12/04/2015 16:42

I'm going to. DD1 is desperate to wear hers and I'll just send her in with a cardigan over the top and her mac.

WorraLiberty · 12/04/2015 16:43

If it's unpleasant surely they'll pop a coat on to play out?

Rowgtfc72 · 12/04/2015 16:45

Dd has had hers on the last three weeks of last term!

SquinkiesRule · 12/04/2015 16:45

I thought I would the other day, but after the rain and wind this morning I doubt I'll bother. Skirt and wooly tights again here.

WhispersOfWickedness · 12/04/2015 16:45

Bit different, but I am sending DS in shorts tomorrow Grin
I've just got them out, he is delighted, I actually had to hide them in November last year as he kept wearing them Hmm

Justusemyname · 12/04/2015 16:47

Mine doesn't go back for another week but I will be sending him in summer uniform. Only change is short sleeve shirts and short socks. I won't be putting him in shorts. Secondary school doesn't have a summer uniform.

whattodooo · 12/04/2015 16:48

Unless it's completely miserable I always send them back in summer dresses, DD can't wait to wear them.

I keep the winter uniform on standby though!

Summerisle1 · 12/04/2015 16:49

I would. It's bright and sunny here (South East) and although a great deal chillier than the end of last week, once you are in the sun it's not bad at all. Just add a cardi, knee socks and a light coat or mac. Winter uniform is likely to be too warm anyway.

redskybynight · 12/04/2015 16:50

DD (year 4) has decided she doesn't do summer dresses any more and neither DC is interested in wearing shorts, so no issue here :)

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 12/04/2015 16:51

Dd will be going back in summer uniform. The cardigans are quite thick and the school and is always hot anyway. If it seems particularly cool I will put knee high socks on her.
We're not back until next week though.

manchestermummy · 12/04/2015 16:51

I let dd decide . They are 'allowed' after Easter but I leave it entirely up to her whether or not she freezes at school. She refuses tights so has been bare legged most of the winter in any case. I managed to get her in trousers when it snowed/was below freezing at least.

There's dressing appropriately then there's letting 'em learn. I've had 5 years of dd1's clothing fussiness so I just let her wear anything.

You know those threads where someone says Why don't those parents dress their children appropriately? All about me Grin.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2015 16:52

Our secondary school swaps the shirt/tie for an embroidered (badge not embroidery Grin ) polo shirt (which you can only buy from the school)

And they have to wear blazers so it's cooler and still tidy

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 12/04/2015 16:57

I'm still pondering. DS2 & 3's school have polo shirts for summer uniform over which they can't wear a blazer, so no coat at all knowing teenagers. They can wear a jumper but wouldn't be seen dead in a cagoule.

JacquesHammer · 12/04/2015 17:02

We have to - it is the school rules. Summer uniform from after Easter hols to October half term, then Winter uniform.

Much easier than having to decide

Lonecatwithkitten · 12/04/2015 17:11

Year 6 with a winter uniform that is easily sold second hand, well it's all gone already so either summer uniform or naked!

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/04/2015 17:18

I'm sending dd in hers when she goes back. mainly cos it will make life alot easier due to no shirts or ties
