I love reading all the details from the Hatton Garden vault raid & hope they get away with it!
Is it wrong to admire what they have done?
I know it's a crime but come on, it's a goodun huh?

Haven't had the chance to take in a lot of the details but I know where you're coming from.

The challenge of pulling off something like that must bring with it quite an adrenaline rush!

FarFromAnyRoad · 11/04/2015 22:13

Worthy of a good 'Hustle' episode. I agree - it was cleverly done but you are going to get handed your arse on here for admiring it!

Cunderthunt · 11/04/2015 22:17

no doubt somebody will be 'offended' but it's so bloody clever. Can't wait for the film!!

Did anybody see Thunderbirds this morning? Lady Penelope needed to get some vital information from a security vault - Parker got in via the lift shaft!

Does the cctv show a pink Rolls anywhere nearby?

Koalafications · 11/04/2015 22:20

I've just googled this as I had no idea about it.

Agree with FarFrom it would be a great episode of Hustle.

Fingeronthebutton · 11/04/2015 22:24

"The police didn't bother to investigate when the alarm went off"
Well they never bother when 'joe blogg's' alarm goes off, so why should they be any different.

Cunderthunt · 11/04/2015 22:27

Don't tell me things like that Rusty, if Parker can get away with it I might start to believe I can! I'll be the one found trapped in the liftshaft at H Samuels on Monday morning haha

I secretly think it was marvellous, but I know I shouldn't. I want them to get caught though, for moral reasons and because the prison break story will be epic.

Cocolepew · 11/04/2015 22:29

Here comes tbe offended, I get what you mean but its a bit shit if people's personal belongings were stolen.
I hope they don't get away

UnsolvedMystery · 11/04/2015 22:43

Clever, yes
Brazen, yes
Want them to get away with it? No
They are thieves, they have no respect for other people's belongings, they need to be caught and locked up.

Oswin · 11/04/2015 22:48

I know I shouldn't but I admire the way they have pulled it off.

moonshine · 11/04/2015 22:50

It would easy to romanticise the crime but I'm willing to bet that none of them are a Brad Pitt or George Clooney but that they're 'career' criminals who make a living out of other people's hard work and misery.

WinterBabyof89 · 11/04/2015 23:00

It must have taken a shit load of planning... Adrenaline filled - definitely!
But I hope they get caught & soon.. I've never understood what drives a person to take something that isn't theirs, and I never will. How devastated much the business owners/employees be?

I worked in a jewellers for 5 years and witnessed one brazen theft whereby a guy (with a group of his friends) grabbed a very expensive diamond that he was viewing from my colleague and hightailed it out of the shop. We felt violated and it took a while for us to settle back into some form of normality.. This heist is x100 times worse IMO.

Hassled · 11/04/2015 23:04

Gobsmacking that the police didn't attend - I'd imagine heads will be rolling. Unless of course the alarm was constantly going off.

I do see where you're coming from - but don't forget people are going to lose their savings and their livelihoods out of this. Apparently loads of the jewels etc weren't insured, on account of being in a secure safe.

TeddyBear5 · 11/04/2015 23:06

They were on there for 12 hours! And then went back the next day!

I can't wait to hear all the details

TenerifeSea · 11/04/2015 23:07

I heard on the radio that they needed a huge power source and would have made a helluva lot of noise when drilling, so yeah it is pretty jammy that they got away with so much stuff without being interrupted.

I don't think they should get away with it though.

Aren't they investigating whether that underground fire had anything to do with it?

LowryFan · 11/04/2015 23:13

DS and I watched the CCTV, I was trying to show him how with a high vis and a bit of confidence you can do anything! He thought it hilarious how they kept coming and going. They seemed quite bumbling with our homemade voiceover. We reckon it's the inlaws, they always forget what they've come into the room for. Where's my glasses love? In the other room... Oh no I can't see them... Oh hang on let me check... Oh maybe they're by the wotsitsname...

AnnPerkins · 11/04/2015 23:17

Catching the masterminds would be the film to make though.

irishamy89 · 11/04/2015 23:20

Even DP and I thought it was genius and DP family have a jewellery business in Hatton Garden. We were glad it wasn't us though!! Loved the fact that the drill used was a 'diamond drill'!!

irishamy89 · 11/04/2015 23:22

Ps: I can't believe some people did not have their items insured. Madness! !

I know exactly what you mean.
I have a admiration for the work and planning that has gone into it.
But they are thieves and most likely 'baddies'.

irishamy89 · 11/04/2015 23:31

Coconutty - I think it was 18 foot!! Shock
