Over your lifetime?

OP posts:
BlueBananas · 06/04/2015 11:10

About 85,000!
I'm very pale, just have to look at the sun and my skin starts peeling off Hmm

DollyMcDolly · 06/04/2015 11:13

All the time growing up. Never used sun protection then. I use it more frequently now though

SuperFlyHigh · 06/04/2015 11:15

About 2-3 times usually in direct sun on a boat or somewhere and not with high enough sun factor on. The sea is a bugger for the Suns rays or whatever making one burn!

Spamminit · 06/04/2015 11:15

once, in 2013 when pregnant with my second.

6LittleOnes · 06/04/2015 11:16

Lots of times, I tend to smother the dcs in suncream and then forget to put it on myself

Callaird · 06/04/2015 11:17

Maybe a dozen times. I tan quite easily and don't burn often. The time I have burnt have been in the UK when it's nice and sunny but it's been windy so you don't feel the full heat or when it's been hazy sunshine and I didn't think I'd tan. I'm 46.

meglet · 06/04/2015 11:17

had my shoulders and back burnt a few times. never blistered though.

Vivacia · 06/04/2015 11:18

Lots of times as a child. I don't remember burning after the age of about 14.

FayKorgasm · 06/04/2015 11:19

Badly as a child which resulted in hospitalisation but not since. I went a little pink last year a couple of times but I am meticulous with suncream.

HeyheyheyGoodbye · 06/04/2015 11:22

Properly awful sunburn just once. Since my early 20s I've been so careful I barely tan!

SarumGiants · 06/04/2015 11:23

Twice, once when I blistered so badly I couldn't have clothes over it. My parents didn't provide sun cream as it wasn't necessary, unfortunately we then went to Africa on holiday.

Nanny0gg · 06/04/2015 11:25

More times than I should. (First holiday abroad in 1959 when we didn't know better).

Worst one was sheer carelessness when I didn't suncream my foot and I stayed paddling in crystal clear water for an hour. The pain was awful.

HagOtheNorth · 06/04/2015 11:26

Never, and I'm in my 50s and lived in the Med as a child. The difference was that my parents were very sun-aware even in the 60s and 70s, so a hat and covering your back and arms was standard, as was staying out of the sun midday and walking on the shady side of the street.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 06/04/2015 11:27

All the time when I was younger. Like, 2-3 times every summer.

Since I've been older never, apart from one memorable time on honeymoon when I forgot to sun cream the back of my knees....

Shesparkles · 06/04/2015 11:27

Never, despite my blonde hairy and blue eyes I have quite an olive complexion. I've no idea where it comes from as I'm the only one in the family like this!

PrincessOfChina · 06/04/2015 11:29

Very rarely in the last 15 years. Perhaps 2 or 3 times I've caught but not blistered or anything.

As a child and teenager it was much more often. We weren't that sun aware and to be blunt, sun cream was expensive in the 80's.

hodgepodgepanda · 06/04/2015 11:30

Once last summer , took me a while to realise that it was more than likely because I were pregnant also didn't realise I were pregnant

ClashCityRocker · 06/04/2015 11:33

Never to the point of blisters.

Did forget to do my armpits once though, that was quite a sore one.

Mum was always quite vigilant with suncream though - and I love the smell of it.

snozzlemaid · 06/04/2015 11:34

Lots of times as a child. I can burn really easily, even when it's not a particularly sunny day as I have very fair, freckly skin.
I wasn't aware of sun cream until I was a teenager. But now I use lots and don't burn.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/04/2015 11:43

All the time as a child as suncream wasn't really used (by my Mum anyway) in the 70's. The beginning of summer was the worst, getting in the first burn before we started to tan, Mum had a huge tub of smelly aftersun cream and we used to pull off huge pieces of peeling skin.

As a adult I generally avoid strong sun and I don't tan so put on the sunscreen thick.

Once had very bad burns in a one off holiday to the Caribbean when I was 22 and a bit naïve about the strength of the sun (had factor 25 but out for too long in catamaran), and a couple of minor burns around shoulders/arms in Scotland when sun caught us unawares when out for the day.

Molichite · 06/04/2015 11:43

Every summer without fail as a child.

Regularly since then, but very very rarely to the point of peeling. i did get caught badly in the Dominican Republic, I just wasn't prepared for the Caribbean sun.

Fluffyears · 06/04/2015 11:44

I usually tan but got burnt really badly when me and a friend decided to sit in the sun for 8 hours with I cream on drinking 'we're in Scotland we won't get burnt' oh my that hurt like a mofo! I had a strap py top on so full face and top of body got horrendously burnt. Now I seem to burn more easily so had bad sunburn maybe another 3 times when we go cycling on one of the local islands. I'm more vigilant now as it is awful.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/04/2015 11:45

About 10 times maybe? Not at all in the last 7 or so years. I have learnt that I am very pale and can burn even on overcast days.

Vivacia · 06/04/2015 11:46

We weren't that sun aware and to be blunt, sun cream was expensive in the 80's.

Yes! You forget how expensive it was before superstores got in on the action and own brands came on the market too.

CaptainAnkles · 06/04/2015 11:48

I've been a bit scorched a few times but only really burned once, with proper purple red skin and peeling off in huge pieces all across my back and shoulders. Was so painful I've never let it happen again.
