AIBU to expect Emma Bridgewater mugs to last!

Would it be responsible to expect them to last longer then 2 seconds before the handle falls off. I've had 4 of the useless things fall apart! All cracking at the top of the handle.

I only buy them because of a deluded belief that tea tastes nicer in them.

(Stomps off to buy a new cheap mug)

Resurrecting an old thread, as I've just discovered my favourite new EB mug has a crack all around the bottom handle join. It's only a couple of months old. I have had one fall off after years of use (whilst full of hot tea), and another is cracked but hanging on and I hold it by the body just in case.

This one arrived in a delivery where 2 of the 3 mugs had already lost their handles in transit.

I'm really just here to vent, as the bastard things aren't exactly cheap! Never stacked upside down, treated carefully, but still the handles keep cracking in the same place.

Anyone else having this problem still?

I agree and they craze, still love the designs though

Excitingnewusername · 03/09/2023 22:16

@clarehhh I've only got one that has badly crazed inside, the quality control seems so variable (though the more recent the order, the more problems there have been).

So pretty, and every other mug feels slightly wrong now, but not sure I can bring myself to buy any more as its so frustrating and feels quite wasteful (there's only so many random 'pen pots' with added random bits of handle sticking out one person needs! 😉)

I would ask a refund for all of them.

Excitingnewusername · 04/09/2023 09:32

@honeygirlz they refunded/replaced the broken ones (based on availability) straight away which was good. I'll email them again about the latest one. 3 of 3 in one order breaking seems like particularly bad odds, and I'm not sure I'll buy any more now (though I have ones that have lasted for years, they definitely have a different feel to them than the recent ones)

sounds like an issue with firing perhaps. Definitely complain.
EB has gone really expensive for seconds now I’ve found as well. I was paying £7/£8 for a seconds mug at the factory shop and last time I went some were nearer £20. Cheaper in TK Maxx and Homesense.

anyway, I still recommend moorlands pottery I linked above 😉
