I think there are more deletions and fewer personal attacks are allowed to stand. The days of telling someone to fuck right off are gone, so it could be argued that's actually better. I don't think people get away with being nasty like they used to. People report more and mnhq policies have adapted over the years too.

I agree that the problem is there are just so many trolls now. I think there's a fair few on right now and they're starting full on bollocks threads. They have changed mn more than anything else imo

I always thought MNers were more cat people than dog people. I've hidden huge swathes of MN now and its loads better.

usual this is one of the things that a really annoying me. I cannot tell if someone is a troll or not until the thread goes poof, or another poster calls them out. By which point I'm usually invested and have voiced concern/given advice to the troll

I disagree, MN has recently been a wonderful place for some very interesting discussion and debate without it getting nasty and hostile, I'm thinking particularly in feminism but there has been some good discussion elsewhere too.

I think now it's easier to assume everything is cobblers and try to guess which threads are real.
