Saying Mumsnet used to be better/funnier is a bit like saying summers used to be hotter, it's because you only remember the exceptional stuff. We wouldn't remember the average summers of our childhood but the long hot ones stick in the mind.
Same with Mumsnet, we only remember the good stuff, we forget the crap that was written. Believe me there was a lot of it. I don't think it's gone down hill, changed maybe but it's not worse.
