I am a Brit living in the US. Do I teach "The Grapes of Wrath"?

I was making a bit of a joke Grunt, but it's just as defensible to pronounce herb without the "h" as it is with. It's not wrong just because it is not the British way.

"It's not wrong just because it is not the British way."

Shock Oh I say! What an absolutely frightful thing to say! I'm just appalled. It seems they'll let anyone on MumNet these days.

Tsk.

I was responding to someone who expressed annoyance at the American pronunciation of herb. Why be annoyed unless you think it is incorrect? Or maybe the annoyance is just because it's American?

Lot's of linguistic xenophobia on MN, almost all of it directed toward Americans.
