Are all second dcs a bit crazy?

Trying to ascertain whether my ds2 (18 mo) is just 'typical' second child or whether it's just my immediate circle of friends that have very strong willed second children?

He's Fab and we adore him but he's bloody hard work. Knocks his older brother around, generally very physical but also has a very short fuse. Had tantrums since he was 13 montha Hmm

Normal second child in everyone else's experience?

Ds (dc1) is very stubborn and contrary, but never really climbed or took risks. DD (dc2) is much more sunny and biddable, but is a completely insane risk taker, kamikaze climber etc....

My no2 is my 'good' one
He is so sensible
No 1 & no 3 are quirky
No4 is bonkers

Oh yes, DD 18mo is feral, hits herself and everyone around when she if she doesn't get her own way, throws things in temper, prone to tantrums at the drop of a hat and destroys everything in her path. Has a knack of knowing exactly what she shouldn't touch and touches it. Has taken it upon herself to decide she is going to be raised as a co sleeping, baby led weaned child, and won't take any nonsense from us, her parents, if we try to do otherwise.

She was always going to be the last as we only wanted two, but if we'd wanted more she would have certainly put us off!

4yo DS on the other hand has always been placid and easy to manage, we naively thought we were getting another one like him!

Ha, yes, dd is 6, ds just had his second birthday. He's quite the handful, dd is very laidback and was as a baby. Ds hardly slept until just after his first birthday and is always on the go. Never stops. I'm knackered!

Nope sorry my second was a dd and she was amazingly chilled and smiled non stop-when she stopped being a baby she made us laugh constantly- she was pretty damn perfect Grin
She's now older and more stubborn, gobby and I'd have ten more like her.

Same here. DC1 was the most chilled out baby ever. Never had a tantrum, he rarely cried really... Slept extremely well, in fact he had us worried at one point because he slept too much!

DC2- completely different. Ear splitting scream that I'm actually certain has done some damage to my ears, I have some weird rumbling vibration thing that happens every so often anyway and I'm sure her screaming in my ear is the cause Grin. Tantrums! Oh my. She tantrums over anything and everything, full on feet stomping screaming tantrums.

I was the first born and my mum went through exactly the same thing. I was chilled out, my brother was an absolute nightmare that didn't sleep through until he was five Shock. She said if she'd had him first she'd never have had another!

There has to be something in this... Can't be coincidence if it happens to so many of us, surely?
