To think this delivery was too early

We had a delivery scheduled for today. Any time. Large delivery so someone needed to be in.

The driver rang at 6.40 this morning to say he would be here at 7 am. And he was. Is it just me or is this all ridiculously early? I was up as I have a 8 week old baby but if I'd have been at work I would have been asleep when he rang.

The guy was really nice and brought everything just inside the door although he said he wasn't supposed to go inside customers houses. So I'm loathe to complain about the time as he did more than he was supposed to.

AIBU to think this was all a bit early?

Well you're more likely to be in at 7am then after 9 when most people are at work and you would have had to reschedule.

I expect it will be in the terms and conditions about delivery times. Someone has to be early, you can't have delivery drivers sat around waiting for time to pass.

Technically he even gave you so much time free that if you wanted to, (and we're working) you could have still made it into work. Double bonus

It is early but I would rather that than have to hang around the house all day waiting for him.

One of our postmen arrives ridiculously early then I see him at the leisure centre early afternoon Hmm

That sounds okay to me, he gave you 20 minutes warning which is enough to be ready if you were still in bed. My postman is often here by that kind of time and sometimes needs to ring the bell for parcels.

At least you can go out anytime you like now and they won't wake your new baby.

What do you deem is an acceptable time?? The world doesn't work 9-5 you know. Lots of us start work before its light.... The alternative is you organise your own collection to suit you?

Having a baby doesn't give you the right to expect deliveries to be on your terms

Sounds ideal to me and I think you would be a plonker to complain especially as he even dropped it off inside for you. Many of them wouldn't have.

Sounds great company, warned he was coming and then delievered and others right you more likely to be in at that time. Gives you the whole day no waiting in

mrsgrumble your postman will have do everything a full day's work by early afternoon. My dad was a postman, he would start at 5 am to finish sorting and loading up the mail. By 1 o'clock he would have done an 8 hour shift. Although was often late off with no overtime pay if there was a lot of post.

I was surprised to get a delivery recently at 7.30am. But pleased that it came and that I wasn't hanging about all day.

He let you know first- so you were warned - and weren't listening out for the doorbell during the course of the day.

Yes, it is early - but in a good way imo.

Blimey! I am clearly BU. Thanks everyone. I shall do as suggested and make most of having day free my plans of using the delivery as an excuse to sit around watching films all day has gone it of the window

Sounds perfect to me. You're 'loathe' to complain?! Why has it even crossed your mind? I feel like people on MN are very quick to complain about things.

26.2 I don't think having a baby gives me any of those rights (and I don't think my post implies that). I only mentioned it to explain why I was up as normally I wouldn't have been. The company don't know I have a baby.

They sit outside our house and ring the door bell exactly at 7am. If we see them we open the door before then and accept the delivery early.

I would be grateful I didn't have to wait in all day for a delivery. If I was working I would have been up getting ready (on ML here as well, waiting for DC2 to arrive).

I don't think there is an ideal delivery time with a baby that young. I do think op has an excuse to stay in and watch films - tiny baby!

You were up, ffs! Why even contemplate complaining on the grounds that you mightn't have been??? Go and get on with your day.
