They should all be shot.

See also: chewmeric, cardamon, and cummin.

Yes I know this is unreasonable. Especially for cummin.

Why do people pronounce Chorizo like they've suddenly forgot how to speak. People on CDWM are the worst for it.

Cheyenne is shy-ann. Cayenne is a completely unrelated word Confused

Weird pronunciations do sometimes seem to take off, though - I'm still not sure how to pronounce biopic.

I think the reason I find kye-ann really only very mildly annoying is what a PP mentioned about snobs and chorizo, thinking they're being clever by using a more "correct" pronunciation that's actually wrong. And then the rest of us get confused and the rot spreads, like Virginia says Grin

Mmm, warm, woolly, knitted Greek pastries.

I think the turmeric mispronunciation comes from seeing it misspelled as tumeric. I know I've seen it like that somewhere (possibly a recipe book, although clearly not a very good one!) and pronounced it wrong Blush.

It grates me when TV chefs say creme patisserie instead of creme patissiere

In my company, as long as you don't say 'pacific' when saying 'specific', you won't irritate the shit out of me.

But macarons and macaroons are different things (despite what my spellcheck might think)

Yes - so Macarons is correct - it isn't a pronunciation error. If used in the right context.

Dandy tell your friend it's pronounced back-la-va if that makes sense? Rather than ba-clarva. Just YouTube it lol

I thought that Tali, then I noticed people saying bio-pic, like a shortened BIOgraphicalPICture. But it still sounds odd to me and in my head I'm thinking "biOPPic". So I just avoid saying it now Grin

Now see biopic is a portmanteau so I think it should be bio-pic, rather than bi-op-ic.

Alexander and Richard say BIO-PIC so that is what I believe to be correct Grin
