They should all be shot.

See also: chewmeric, cardamon, and cummin.

Yes I know this is unreasonable. Especially for cummin.

Hang on, Wikipedia says bio-pic, doesn't it? Emphasis on the first syllable?

Nope, brain still refuses to accept it. Come on, brain!

I've heard feta pronounced three different ways this week so I'm sensitive to the issue. I'm going to drink my vodka and coke and eat my pringles as it's easier to translate than when I drank prosecco and ate tapas. (I promise I'm not a snob. Honestly. I'll demolish a whole pack of mini turkey kieves in one sitting in my granny pants)

serendipityspeaks · 06/01/2015 22:26

An 'h' in prosecco? I say, I say!! A 'hache' in prosecco...bring me my smelling salts...

How do you put 'h' in Prosecco?

Bruschetta is another one. Say it in England with the correct pronunciation and you'll get looked at as if you were a chorizo snob! Say it the wrong English way in Italy and you'll probably get spit in your dinner!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/01/2015 22:30

Oh apparently Bio-pic and Bi-op-pic are acceptable ways of saying it, the latter American the former UK. I gotta go with the Americans on this one.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 06/01/2015 22:30

Is it not pronounced bru-shet-ah or am I common as muck?

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/01/2015 22:38

SIL phoned me in the supermarket once and asked me to pick up some seer-batter bread. I honestly had no clue what she was on about until she started to spell it out. I thought she was wrong but am now starting to think I'm just common...

GlitzAndGigglesx · 06/01/2015 22:39

Pro-shoot-ee-oh but it's probably prosco or something ridiculous

CheerfulYank · 06/01/2015 22:39

I ate a burrito with ky-enn in Shy-ANN.
