asking if anyone else has a demanding cat?

I have 2 cats, 1 pretty much lives on my sons bed comes down to eat and asks to go out sometimes and inbetween scratches my sofa.

The other one that I got from the cats protection May before last won't leave me alone,
From the moment I get up she crys for food, I feed her then she's under my feet meaowing, I've stood on her foot or tail more times than I can remember because she's always behind me, I trip over her coming down the stairs.
If I sit at the computer she's on my lap, that's fine I don't mind a cuddle but she keeps digging her claws in my legs, I chuck her off and she's up again. That will happen 3 or 4 times.
She sleeps on my bed every night I don't get much say in that but she takes up my space and I'm bent round her.
I love her to bits but grr.

Mine pretty much ignores me, until 4.45 every morning, then he decides that I am his most favourite person in the universe, and climbs on my chest, kneads my face, and headbutts my nose.

Mine hits me round the face if she wants attention. Doesn't matter if it's day or night - I get a slap. She's a little fluffy ball of evil.

Have you got my cat? Not from a rescue centre but rescued from a dire situation. She loves me so much. Is less clingy now ( after a few years) but in the mornings I get kisses, claws directing me to where she wants me to be, hair combed, eyes prised open - and all of this really hurts!!
When I go upstairs she is a couple of stairs above me, stopping at every one to look lovingly into my eyes. She used to sit on my lap and just look at me.
I can't sleep with her as she just wouldn't leave me alone. You might find she calms down a bit as she gets more confident.
On a serious note do be careful coming down the stairs. They are buggers.

yes op! I have one exactly the same. She's like it 24/7 and it's starting to drive me loopy. I love her to pieces but it's like having a newborn.

Ours. Cat A demands that you open the sitting room curtains for her every morning so she can bird watch in comfort. Cat B expects to patrol the garden every night at 930pm while sitting parrot-fashion on DH's shoulder. Both of them expect that you will stop whatever you are doing to tickle their tummies on demand and will follow us around loudly lamenting our cruelty if we don't oblige.

I've had cats (4 or 5 at a time) all my life; I'm 70 now. This little cat is insecure and has found something she can cling to at last. She's not going to let you go! I've had what I call 'howlers' who cry and miaow, but it's not food they want, it's attention. And my howlers have nearly all been pedigree Siamese, not rescue cats, so have had a charmed existence from day 1. I've never found a solution. One of mine at the moment gets under my feet at every opportunity, and trips me up following me out to the bin, down the steps etc. He'll break my neck one of these days!
Siamese have very loud screamy voices and he lets rip through the kitchen door when he wants me. He follows me to the village shop too, howling at every step. I give him constant affection but it's never enough. He's 12 now.
All you can do is grit your teeth and bear it. She's lucky you let her sleep on your bed. I don't, and there are howls during the night quite often. But we all adore our cats don't we? Little blighters!

Needy. My cat is needy. A complete dopey, dotey, happy, soppy beast. Pretty much shadows me all day and ideally would curl up to go to sleep on my shoulder at night with his head on my chest. He is essentially a gigantic fluffy live teddy bear. He is the cat that people who don't like cats like because he's such soppy idiot who adores everyone and anyone.

It can get quite wearing, when I can't sit down for a millisecond without him pouring himself on me in a cattsunami. And I'm typing this around him, 'cos he likes to lie between me and the laptop.

He's an idiot.

I'd be lost without him :)

I've posted before about the dictatorship that I live under, ran by a narcissistic despot named "Fluffy"(name changed through fear).

She has us all well trained and barely has to look at us to open doors/windows, that she then walks away from.

You do her bidding, or pay for it later, usually between 1-4 am.

I switched to dry food, so it's permanently available, but on occasion she wants walking to her bowl.

She'll only drink out of a running tap.

It's took her three years to have the house under her complete control.

We could learn a lot from cats, they do indeed Rule.

Have you got my cats? The little one follows me around everywhere, even to the loo! Coming downstairs is really tricky. I always hold on to the bannister cos she gets right under my feet! I'm always standing on her or tripping over her especially in the kitchen! I suppose it's her way of telling me how much she loves me! Luckily she doesn't sleep with me!

Honestly you need some Feliway. My cat calmed down massively - used it for a few months and then cat just carried on being happier.

I had one years ago who lived around my neck like a strange fur collar. I was expected to walk everywhere with this Thing draped on me. He was a Siamese too. I got quite used to it actually, and got a name for myself in my last village as a Very Eccentric Person!

Another thing she does is scratch at my ankles, don't mind so much if I'm wearing jeans but if I have just put my pjs on it hurts, if that doesn't get what she wants she bites me. She's never nasty any other time.

About the claws in the lap. Have a rug/blanket/sweatshirt/folded towel at hand and quickly put this on your lap before the cat jumps up or slide it under her. Then you can all get along nicely without your flesh being shredded to ribbons.

Oh my knees are permanently scarred with pinpricks due to the many hundreds of claws that have tattooed my skin over the years. Most cats 'knead' and very painful it is. Good idea about a folded towel on the lap.

Hes lovely and i love him to pieces but hes so demanding and vocal!! As soon as i stand up he meows for food. He has to be on me or near me at all times. He loves the kids though.

No I don't have a demanding cat. However we are slaves to 2 cats who let us live here so long as we do their bidding. Instantly.

Retribution is swift for stepping out of line.

Good thing we luffs them to bits.

Hatespiders We have had Siamese since I was a child so I know EXACTLY what you mean!

I used to have a Burmilla who was incredibly demanding - he had been rehomed three times before I had him because he was such a sod!

Is it part Siamese? He sounds just like my bossy, naughty Siamese! I get slapped, poked with one claw, shouted at and told off from sun up to sun down.

Do you play with her OP. Yours does exactly what mine does when she wants played with.

I have a collection of wands now to get her running/stalking and jumping about. When she's done she splodges on the floor then buggers off somewhere after some food for a sleep.

If I don't play with her she gets frustrated and bites me.

Livia and Mrs Tawdry, I'm glad someone else understands Siamese and their quirks!
We now have three of them. One is really weird. He's one of 2 brothers. His bro is perfectly well-adjusted and I've had them both from babyhood. But this one is a Drama Merchant. He cowers in 'terror' if my dh comes near him, as if he's expecting to be boiled in oil. But if dh says the magic word (Guess! Yes, "CHICKEN!") he's suddenly his best mate. My dh is very hurt, he's been nothing but wonderfully kind and gentle with all our cats. He loves them as much as I do. He now has to have a bit of chicken in his hand for Mr Weirdo and all is fine. (See? Manipulative little buggers!) His brother indulges his hobby of mountaineering (on neighbours' roofs) then screams for rescue. We totally ignore him and eventually he comes down perfectly easily. My poor dh is always on the point of getting out the big ladder, which of course is the object of the exercise. Cats! They're just having a bloody laugh!

Mine has a death wish, even the dog regularly steps on him because he is permanently under foot. He has to be out at night, but occasionally sneaks in and demands to be let out between 2 and 4 am. As soon as I pull up on the drive he crash lands on the bonnet, and my car is covered in small muddy paw prints. He also goes for a walk every time the dog is taken out.

HateSpiders yes! Our boy would walk through fire to get chicken! When I roast one, he is my timer...when it is perfectly cooked he knows...and comes to let me know that it's time to get it out!

He is ALWAYS right. He also is blissfully unaware of the ,moggies who come to our garden in an attempt to intimidate him. They do their arched back walk along the fence and hiss at him and he just sits there...not even looking at them...they always leave in confusion.
