To think 'feeling blessed' is a disguised brag

Lighthearted

The status update starter "I'm feeling blessed because......." shouldn't end with a brag about what you have materially.

Am I alone in noticing this and has anyone got some funny examples to share?

I just read one "feeling blessed because my gorgeous hubby bought me some amazing presents"

No, I think people are just counting their blessings and thinking of positives.

It's better than thinking of things to moan about!

happy Christmas

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:45

Facebook is one big stealth boast isn't it? Especially at Christmas. Grin

I don't have FB but have had a look at DS's today and it is full of teenagers bragging, and doing vomit inducing declarations of love to their parents. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:47

Seriously the 'feeling blessed' thing-is that something you type or is it from a drop down list because it's not something anyone would actually say is it?

usualsuspect333 · 25/12/2014 16:48

No one is ever allowed to write anything positive on FB without some miserable fucker accusing them of boasting.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:49

Hulababy · 25/12/2014 16:50

"feeling blessed" is only ever something my religious FB write - often followed by non religious type comments.

Nishky · 25/12/2014 16:50

Its a drop down thing isn't it?

stupenoushorrendous · 25/12/2014 16:50

No it's not a drop down, it's just something people increasingly start their update with.

Mistakes a change to read nice things on FB because MN has to be the most miserable corner of the internet at Christmas.

I really should log out until at least March.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:51

What are the other choices? i have seen 'feeling pained'. If I had FB I would use that a lot probably.

usualsuspect333 · 25/12/2014 16:52

Makes* stupid kindle

usualsuspect333 · 25/12/2014 16:52

There is a drop down menu

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:52

I am blessed to have had 2 glasses of wine and a Bacardi and coke usual, I am so not miserable it's unreal. I may even join FB at this rate. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:53

What are the other choices in the drop down menu?

usualsuspect333 · 25/12/2014 16:54

I like the 'looking for' drop down menu.

Some random things on that one.

southeastastra · 25/12/2014 16:55

i dislike the i feel blessed posts too, i think facebook would be great if people were cynical most of the time Grin more entertaining.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 16:55

'Feeling boasty'?

stupenoushorrendous · 25/12/2014 16:58

Sparkling
I like that idea, feeling boasty

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 25/12/2014 16:59

I wish there was a "feeling bloated" button I could press. Would that be acceptable?

Meechimoo · 25/12/2014 16:59

I did lol@the person on mumsnet who said they were going to post something like 'feeling blessed on the bread aisle at Tesco'
It's a nauseating phrase

JuanDirection · 25/12/2014 17:01

I'm sure different people mean it in very different ways. Probably nicer to read that than "I'm feeling shat on because...". Unless they're being a real smug twat I suppose - "I'm feeling blessed because I just robbed your house/nicked your car" or something!

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 17:01

It is weird now. Finding out what people had for Christmas five minutes after they got it by way of a photo.
In the olden days you would speak to them or see them in person the week after Christmas and ask each other. No need any more. Grin

I just wish the teens would have a bit of a tidy in the background before the pic.

cuppateaandtoast · 25/12/2014 17:03

Yanbu. Fb is all about boasting. Its just theway the world is now. People have an outlet for bragging about stuff.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2014 17:04

'Feeling smug'. I think the teens would be all over that. Grin

ovaryhill · 25/12/2014 17:06

I'm fondly remembering my 'just had a massive shit, feeling blessed' status , in protest at all the utter bollocks on facebook
