Quality Street tin

We have a tin of Quality Street unopened which we are taking to SIL's. WIBU to prise off the Sellotape around the tin, steal a couple of strawberry cremes, then replace lid and tape?

Is it unreasonable? If so I am! Have just done it! I have no guilt. The sweets were delicious!

Oh god I love the smell of a newly opened tin Xmas Grin

Perissa · 23/12/2014 16:25

Actually thinking about it, they may have been Roses not Quality Street, I don't like either so not sure how different they are Xmas Confused

Cocolepew · 23/12/2014 16:25

You can buy a box with strawberry, orange and lemon creams in them. They are a bugger to find though, Tesco sometimes have them.
Home Bargains do Quality Street bars, 4 for a £.

MrBisinbother · 23/12/2014 16:26

You can keep the cremes ,the purple ones are mine Xmas Grin

Perissa · 23/12/2014 16:28

These ones coco

Pointlessfan · 23/12/2014 16:28

They've never been as good since they removed the coffee creams and I'm sure the tins are smaller than they used to be which would explain how we have managed to eat ours already!

Inthedarkaboutfashion · 23/12/2014 16:31

Home bargains sell the bags of strawberry cremes too.

Cocolepew · 23/12/2014 16:31

Yes they are the ones! Bloody lovely.

maleenteringfemalefacilities · 23/12/2014 16:39

Lemon creams? What are these things you speak of?

Department of 20 people, we have had 2 tins Celebrations, 2 of Quality Street, 1 of Roses, and 1 of Heroes so I'm doing lots of research but have not come across lemon creams yet. Do they not put them into tins destined for Ireland?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 23/12/2014 16:49

I often read these posts and only the type of sweet changes... it makes me wonder why MN ladies don't keep the not-liked chocolates and swap them with somebody else's not-liked ones... like a swap shop thing? Xmas Grin

I do not like any chocolates so I can't help, sorry.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 23/12/2014 16:51

Oh... and I see I've just pinched Dodo's idea, didn't RTFT first, sorry... Blush

cuddybridge · 23/12/2014 16:52

I can't stand strawberry creams, pm me and you can have 2 tins worth

londonrach · 23/12/2014 16:53

Cuddy xxx

londonrach · 23/12/2014 16:55

Sorry cuddy no idea why it posted without me finishing. Cuddy the strawberry creams are the best!!!!

LeBearPolar · 23/12/2014 16:56

I have a tin, not a plastic tub

RebeccaMumsnet - how have you not seen these in tesco?

So many strawberry ones

LizzieVereker · 23/12/2014 16:57

And you can buy a small bar of the green triangles. I have only seen them in Boots, but they are luffly.

londonrach · 23/12/2014 16:58

Lebear!!!!! Where do you get those tins. I have never seen them in tesco.

releasethehounds · 23/12/2014 17:03

Well I've never forgiven QS since they removed the gooseberry creams. Yes they did exist in the 70s (I'm so old).

MrsPresley · 23/12/2014 17:04

londonrach if you have a B&M near you, they sell them too Smile

My weird DS doesn't like any chocolate except the strawberry creams from Quality Street and Roses, so he has 2 of each for Christmas. The Roses are just a small bag though.

LeBearPolar · 23/12/2014 17:04

I got my tin of normal Quality Street in Tesco: it was in the Seasonal Goods aisle rather than stacked at the front with all the plastic tubs of sweets. I paid more for the tin because I was so excited to see one (reminder of childhood) Blush But I also pay more to get Coke in glass bottles rather than plastic ones...

And the big "sweet" of Strawberry Delights was also in Tesco - same aisle. DH got a heavy hint dropped to him, so there'd better be one in my stocking!

Lagoonablue · 23/12/2014 17:21

Do you remember the Dairy Milk selection bar. Like a load of chocs melded into a bar. It contained a lime filled barrel I think. I used to love it. And a marzipan. Delicious.

releasethehounds, I don't remember gooseberry creams, I'm sorry to say, but I have never EVER forgiven Quality Street for getting rid of Cracknells. They were fucking lush!

releasethehounds · 23/12/2014 17:33

Very few people seem to remember the gooseberry creams but they were my favourite! Yes, they did exist - listed on Wikipedia.

WowWowSauce · 23/12/2014 17:50

I already finished two tubs of the QS, and left all the strawberry and orange cream ones. Had to take them in to work for everyone else. I like the fudge and coconut ones best.

Now my local shop has sold out of QS. How very dare they??

cruikshank · 23/12/2014 17:55

I probably did eat the gooseberry creams, because I was around in the 70s, but I've never been a big 'cream + chocolate' fan - much prefer crunchy/chewy stuff. Hence my hankering for fucking CRACKNELL.
