Aibu to think I might actually cry?

We have a perfectly good Henry though I may have remarked recently that it was bulky and a pain to get in and out of the cupboard.

I am practising my 'oh wow, just what I wanted' face......

Xmas Grin

Tell him they're tears of joy. Xmas Grin

Fluffyears · 23/12/2014 08:26

I wouldn't be practising any face but my 'that had better not be my Christmas present!' one.

londonrach · 23/12/2014 08:26

I wish someone buy us a hover as ours is on its last legs. But having replacing the kettle, toaster, iron in the last week, and in the new year the shredder, printer and as of last night the computer i dont think we can stretch any further.... You very lucky!

Toadinthehole · 23/12/2014 08:26

If I suspected DW of feeling her presents, I might say the same to throw her off the scent. creates false hopes

Iggly · 23/12/2014 08:28

Haha at least he listens to you!

He should really have paid for a cleaner instead Grin

londonrach · 23/12/2014 08:28

Extra o in the hoover can i blame it on technology as i bet this ipad is failing too! Sorry very upset have computer on safe mode virus checking and hoping!

bedraggledmumoftwo · 23/12/2014 08:29

My dh bought me a mini dustbuster thing last Christmas, it is still joked about at family gatherings that he managed to get away with buying me an appliance in this day and age!

livegoldrings · 23/12/2014 08:29

LTB Xmas Grin

whattheseithakasmean · 23/12/2014 08:30

I would throttle my DH if he bought me a hoover

I speak as one who has bought my DH an iron & ironing board in the past - he loves that domestic shit.

So it is down to how well your partner knows you and knows what you like. A hoover to me is like a stake to a vampire.

bedraggledmumoftwo · 23/12/2014 08:31

Moral of my tale being unless you are having Christmas alone someone else is sure to comment on it so you don't have to!

PumpkinsMummy · 23/12/2014 08:31

I think I am the only woman who would be a bit WTF with perfume or similar, but would love a new hoover. May I add I am a feminist and not a fifties housewife Grin but I just love home gadgets. And as I am not really very feminine perfume lasts about years and jewellery gets worn very very rarely.

odyssey2001 · 23/12/2014 08:32

OH and I have just bought ourselves a new Hoover as an early Christmas present and we are very excited. It has very good suction.

Bartlebee · 23/12/2014 08:32

That is a very bad present!

londonrach · 23/12/2014 08:34

Odyssey! [fgin]

gamerchick · 23/12/2014 08:35

I Got a harry as a present one year. Can't remember if it was a birthday or Christmas though.

It was love at first sight Grin

cece · 23/12/2014 08:36

I think today you need to tell him a very funny story about some poor woman who was bought a hoover as her Christmas present from their husband. Really emphasise how hilarious it was and how the poor man has had the piss taken out of him for the past year. Just imagine hey? How stupid of him!

SmallBee · 23/12/2014 08:37

Make a joke to him about how someone on MN received one last year for Christmas and see how he reacts.

cece · 23/12/2014 08:38

I speak as a woman who was surprised to receive a meat thermometer a couple of years ago Hmm

My mil looked at me and said "did you want a meat thermometer?" LOL

dangerrabbit · 23/12/2014 08:38

Can't you just be honest with him and tell him you think it's a crap present? It's not like he's some random aquaintance he is your husband after all? Then the likelihood of him buying you something you actually want in future years will be increased?

prettywhiteguitar · 23/12/2014 08:38

Dp still gets reminded about the year his mum bought me a food processor (cheap and broke the first time I used it) and he got a DVD that he wanted.......

Now I give them all an amazon wish list for the family Xmas Smile

Timeforabiscuit · 23/12/2014 08:39

My husband and I lust over a dyson animal (small house but inconvenient sockets).

Still wouldn't buy it as a present - its more a January sales thing!

prettywhiteguitar · 23/12/2014 08:39

cece got it right !

londonrach · 23/12/2014 08:41

I asked mil for a posh cake carrying plastic box one year. Dfil thought it very funny when he handed it over. I was so pleased he looked shocked and asked why i was pleased. Its been in weekly use since and has doubled in price new in the shop so a bargain!

PumpkinsMummy · 23/12/2014 08:42

oooh what model odyssey? I love a bit of hoover porn.

Op if you are not really tight on money, or in love with household appliances in general, then a new hoover should not really be your xmas pressie. At best if you need one and are short on money it should be joint. I would start dropping massive hints about getting one in the sale after xmas and how much you are looking forward to a nice luxurious present.

Purplepoodle · 23/12/2014 08:47

I think mines brought me an actifry. I do want one but not as a Christmas gift especially when I asked if him and mil could go in on ghd's. He snuck into argos and asked me for a bin bag to bring it out of the car so I'm betting an actifry. I have made a comment about I guess I'm not getting ghd then as you can't get those in argos.
