Bastards parking on pavements!

People that completely block the footpaths with their cars. AIBU to have pre-printed some notes to leave on windscreens because on a 5 minute journey I counted 12! There is NEVER an excuse!

This boils my piss! Angry (in case there was any doubt)

YANBU selfish fuckers

DisneyDivaWoo · 13/12/2014 17:41

yanbu I hate this. It's horrible when you have a pushchair too

LuisSuarezTeeth · 13/12/2014 17:42

The note reads:

*YOUR VEHICLE IS BLOCKING THE FOOTPATH!

Wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs cannot get past you and will be forced onto the road.

THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

Please have more consideration.*

It's awful by my sons school you often have to walk children in the road due to idiots parked on the pavement. It's an accident waiting up happen

BeyondTheTreelights · 13/12/2014 17:44

I'm gonna leaflet the cars parked on the school run, have to drive my chair in the road almost daily Angry

cindydog · 13/12/2014 17:45

Totally agree.Especially when I have children and dogs with me. May keep bags of dog shit for their windscreens Grin

mumonashoestring · 13/12/2014 17:45

YANBU. This was such a problem where we used to live (high kerbs, busy roads, nowhere for wheelchair users to go and extremely hard to get a pushchair past) I started taking photos & sending them to the Council's traffic department so they could either ticket the feckers or at least send some traffic wardens or PCSOs our way.

PumpkinPie2013 · 13/12/2014 17:45

YANBU - this drives me mad Angry

Pure selfishness!

Pipbin · 13/12/2014 17:45

You need to get some from stickers from 'you park like a cunt' www.shotdeadinthehead.com/nsearch?keywords=yplac

FannyFanakapan · 13/12/2014 17:46

call the police non urgent number - 101 - and explain that you cannot get down the road due to cars on pavement. Hopefully your PCSO will give them all a ticket. It is illegal.

TheCrimsonQueen · 13/12/2014 17:46

How about "Your vehicle is blocking the footpath you inconsiderate asshole" ?

cindydog · 13/12/2014 17:47

Luis - good note, make sure you use an A4 sheet and superglue it to the windscreen Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/12/2014 17:47

When I was a baby, we lived in a little Warwickshire village, where this often happened with lorries. My dad was a Special Constable, and was in the station one day, when a lorry driver came in to report a woman for giving him a bollocking for blocking the pavement with his lorry, so she had had to push her pram into the road. From what he was saying, she had been very frank indeed with her views.

Suddenly he pointed to a woman walking past the police station' and said, "That's the mad old bitch who shouted at me!" - the desk sergeant looked over and replied - "that mad old bitch is my wife!" Apparently the driver decided not to complain any further, and slunk out. Xmas Grin

YANBU, OP!

Livingtothefull · 13/12/2014 17:47

YANBU and thanks for posting this. I have frequently had to go onto the road with DS in his wheelchair which is extremely dangerous for him.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 13/12/2014 17:48

I looked at those pip and it's tempting. I'm trying to get a local Facebook group on board with me. Seems like everyone will have a moan, but too few will actually DO anything. With 4 schools in my town, the parking is ludicrous.

I've printed A LOT of notes and have them ready in my car.

Am I doing anything illegal, does anyone know?

LuisSuarezTeeth · 13/12/2014 17:50

I thought that no swearing or abusive language was the way to go. I need to get others doing it though or I may end up with my windows stoved in Shock

Fab story SDT

26Point2Miles · 13/12/2014 17:51

Oh op you should have started the note saying 'did you mean to be so rude'?

All MNers could then do this and the whole country will become familiar with 'did you mean to be so rude'?!!

26Point2Miles · 13/12/2014 17:52

Is what they are doing illegal? Doubt leaving notes is illegal

LuisSuarezTeeth · 13/12/2014 17:53

26 er, do we want ourselves totally outed? Grin

I'm already feeling the need for glasses and a moustache

OP posts:
LuisSuarezTeeth · 13/12/2014 17:54

AFAIK blocking the footpath is illegal

OP posts:
LuisSuarezTeeth · 13/12/2014 17:55

What really gets me is what's behind it all - the driver thinks their needs are more important than anyone else's

OP posts:
MaryWestmacott · 13/12/2014 18:00

It's drivers realising where they are parking isn't safe for traffic to pass, so rather than finding somewhere else, they park on the pavement without thinking the pavement is there for a reason.

My buggy is narrower than a wheelchair, if I can't get through with the buggy, a wheelchair can't get through. Often, it's easy for me to just go on the road for a short stretch then bump back up on the path, but for a lot of wheelchair users, if they've not got someone else with them, they'll have to stay on the road until a dropped curb, this is a lot more dangerous than just passing that one car.

If it's around a school speak to the headteacher about writing home to all parents.
