No denying the original was, and still is awesome. Round 2, with Kylie n Jase et al, not the original but hey, it was still ok. Round 3, the biggest Christmas cringe going, that rap... had me screaming at the tv 10 years ago and now. they. are. doing. it. again. To add insult to injury they're having one friggin' direction on it.

I can't bear that idiot and wish he would just bugger off and give 90% of his money to charity rather than ask everyone else for their dosh. Most people give to charities when and if they can afford it and don't need some out of touch twit harping on at them about buying yet another crappy single that's sung by people they couldn't care less about

I wish they could erase all of them. There's something I find really offensive about watching a room of pissed up people (having spent lots of £££'s on booze and food) singing 'do they know it's Christmas' . It is beyond Irony. I realise that is not a common opinion, but I would rather just donate without lining the pockets of record executives and building the egos of pop stars.

Watching the original 30 years ago, huddled round someone's black and white portable in a student room, blew us away. It's a tired concept now - a bit like watching the newsreaders dance on Children in Need.

The original had really fun energy and goodwill around it, it was novel and tapped into people's emotional reaction to the images coming from Ethiopia at the time.
Subsequently, diminishing appeal every time.

You may not like his personality noiseymonkey , but I fail to see how you can call him an idiot. He has done more to raise the awareness in the UK of poverty and famine in Africa and elsewhere that pretty much anyone else.

Do people really think that the amount of money that has been raised could have been done without his efforts.

As for what I do, if I didn't work full time with 2 small children I would absolutely give more than the few of hours a week voluntary work I can squeeze in at the mo.

I really hate it when people say celebrities or the wealthy in general should just give all their money away to various charities/causes. It is not the responsibility of just the wealthy it is about everyone doing their bit according to what they can afford so that we all feel a responsibility to give to those less fortunate if we can. having said that geldof gets on my nerves!

Good grief after the year poor Bob has had that he can still do this is unbelievable. He did say he doesn't care if you don't like it or listen to it, just buy it. Bob Geldof was never the greatest commercial success in the world and I don't believe he makes money out of this kind of thing.

I'm just glad that somebody is doing something to raise some money and raise awareness of the Ebola crisis. It seems to have dropped off the radar now the initial hysteria has waned.
I don't particularly like Sir Bob much (and I can't stand the bloody song....any version of it) but as somebody else said, he's had a crap year and has done a heck of a lot for charity. Hopefully this will raise a lot more money for charities such as MSF who are battling this awful virus as we speak.
