Aibu to think WHY are they on? Only to dilute the Judy F fiasco from yesterday? I can't listen to these girls

They keep saying he's innocent. What an insult to his victim and the criminal justice system.

123upthere · 14/10/2014 10:41

No offence but they don't seem too bright. Phil has just reminded the sister that he is a convicted rapist, it is the law of the land after she suggested that was just the opinions of the 12 jurors Blush

She says she knew the facts ?

SnakeyMcBadass · 14/10/2014 10:43

I don't understand these women. Truly.

123upthere · 14/10/2014 10:44

Seem really naive/brainwashed almost. Really irritated by this.

OP posts:
SoftKittyWarmKitty · 14/10/2014 10:44

She knew his version of events, not the facts. The facts came out in court and a jury found him guilty based on those facts.

Those women are both deluded.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/10/2014 10:45

#I believe her

He was found guilty by a judge and jury (and again on appeal iirc?). However I suspect the need to believe he is innocent is what is keeping that relationship going. Drowning in denial...

PetulaGordino · 14/10/2014 10:46

i haven't watched it but i feel desperately sad for them, as well as angry at how this must feel for the woman who was raped by ched evans

Pyjamaramadrama · 14/10/2014 10:52

Even if, and he's not, but even if he was not guilty of rape.

He still cheated on his girlfriend, with a very young woman who was clearly very drunk and vulnerable, in a disgusting and derogatory way, and had sex with her after his friend had already, they then left her alone in a hotel room.

That is the absolute best case scenario that they could come up with, and shows that he clearly does not see women as people who deserve respect, both the young woman and his girlfriend.

Now why on earth would she want to be with a man like that?

It makes me sick.

CeliaFate · 14/10/2014 10:52

I didn't see it, but I assume they think he's had a drunken shag with someone he'd picked up.
His co-defendant was acquitted wasn't he, so clearly there was more evidence to find Evans guilty?

Honeezreturn · 14/10/2014 10:57

I've just started a thread in chat about this,
I agree with OP
Makes me sick

MommyBird · 14/10/2014 10:58

When she said that he told her he'd cheated on her and she was heartbroken, then the allegations came out about it being rape and her first instinct was to protect him..

really Hmm

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/10/2014 10:58

Because she went to the hotel room with the other defendant the jury found that she had consented to sex. Evans joined them later and the jury found at that point she was too drunk to give informed consent.

Everyotherfreckle · 14/10/2014 11:00

I feel quite sorry for his sister because it must be shit to have your brother convicted of rape, and she probably does feel defensive towards him.

The girlfriend though? What is she thinking?

I agree they seem to have a very poor grasp of what 'facts' are and of the criminal justice system in general. He is a convicted rapist, found guilty in a court of law, but they seemed to be saying that it was just 12 nasty jurors being mean to him.

To be fair, given the absolute woeful rate of convictions for rape (and the fact I guess that it is hard to prove it beyond reasonable doubt given the nature of the crime), the fact that he was not only convicted, but still found guilty on appeal suggests that the evidence must have been pretty clear cut?!

Honeezreturn · 14/10/2014 11:01

Where was Judy Finnegan talking about it? I would like to see what she had to say

Pyjamaramadrama · 14/10/2014 11:03

That's what I'm thinking everyotherfreckle, most cases such as this won't even make it to court, let alone get a conviction.

I'm certain that there must have been compelling evidence to get a conviction.

CeliaFate · 14/10/2014 11:04

the fact that he was not only convicted, but still found guilty on appeal suggests that the evidence must have been pretty clear cut?!

Yes, that's what my view is.

rumbelina · 14/10/2014 11:04

No you wouldn't, Honeez

She was on Loose Women - google it. Not good.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/10/2014 11:05

I would feel sorry for the sister if she kept a dignified silence Every, rather than taking every opportunity to defend her brother's 'innocence'.

Judy Finnegan apparently said something about the victim being drunk on Loose Women yesterday, will see if I can find a linkie that isn't the Fail.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/10/2014 11:06

Guardian link

CeliaFate · 14/10/2014 11:06

Judy Finnegan said this

Everyotherfreckle · 14/10/2014 11:07

I agree pyjama - the absolute best case scenario is that his mate rang him to tell him that he had picked up a random girl, so he went out of his way to go to their hotel, walked in on his mate shagging her and then 'joined in' and had sex with her as well, all while his girlfriend was waiting for him at home.

Awwww, what an absolute sweetheart.

WowserBowser · 14/10/2014 11:07

ITV are making me sick! He was convicted of rape! They need to have someone on one of their turgid shows who strongly states how awful these crimes are - with no victim blaming.

Is that asking too much FFS?

Everyotherfreckle · 14/10/2014 11:10

Sorry pyjama I was agreeing with your first post there (although I am agreement with all your posts!)
