Excuse me whilst I vent spleen on the above 2, ds1 just put on BBC 3 in the middle of Downton! There was a comedy programme by the above called "Come Fly with Me" featuring the above pair. I hated it and dressed as Japanese school girls (with bad style (Mikado eye make-up circa 1897) and the fake accents. This is really bad comedy how do this pair get away with this in 2014 for chrissake. I do remember Little Britain but did not really watch it as used to do v.early shift work and so bed early, this offering seems beyond the pail. Walliams seems such a totally "right on " much loved "luvvie" , I just don't understand Confused

Nothing new for those two unfortunately. This programme's been around for a few years though hasn't it? I remember being uncomfortable with Little Britain and this just took it further...

stillenacht1 · 12/10/2014 21:44

Can't stand them. Have you seen Big School? Utter drivel.

raltheraffe · 12/10/2014 21:49

I found the depiction of the guy who had had a mental breakdown on Big School to be downright offensive. In this day and age we should be working on removing the stigma that surrounds mental illness, not making cheap jokes about it.

L+W were very funny on this Rock Star documentary they did before hitting the big time, but since then have been boring and predictable.

I love edgy comedy when it is done cleverly. Loved Joan Rivers.

MyFairyKing · 12/10/2014 21:50

Sacrilege, I love Big School!

stillenacht1 · 12/10/2014 21:52

I agree raltheraffe

ThatWasThat · 12/10/2014 21:53

No, you're not. I caught a few minutes of this today and was very uncomfortable

stillenacht1 · 12/10/2014 21:55

Big School is surely meant for CBBC. It is so unfunny- so obvious, pantomime like, 70s sitcom humour clunky and dire. Sorry but Walliams is dreadful. I haven't forgiven them for their creation of Anne in Little Britain.

Charliebitmyfinger · 12/10/2014 21:57

I just don't understand how they get away with it? It is all do backwards just Jim Davidson 1978 again reconstructed, they rightly did away with the Black and White Minstrel show on the beeb and then Walliams blacks up as 2 airport workers, if this "Fly" show is old they are still showing it today. I don't watch much tv (except Downton and the odd movie) I hated this show really hated what I saw, bad taste does not even come close.....

And it IS NOT "cutting edge comedy" I have just paid £35 last week to support this nastiness....

I wonder how many people complained to the BBC when this first aired? I feel like going on Walliam's twitter ( I bet he is a big tweeter) and asking him nicely how he defends this kind of comedy, I expect I will be blocked or ignored thoughl

I do not mind edgy comedy when it is done cleverly. I do not like Michael Mackintyre as I find his comedy too safe and boring.

I do not mind it when otherwise talented comedians sometimes cross the line and say something offensive. Joan Rivers did this a few times. I forgave her for the odd offensive joke as she was a highly talented funny woman.

The problem with L+W is they are NOT funny. I cannot understand how on earth they get prime time shows.

The Rock Star documentary thing was good, especially their depiction of Shaun Ryder and Bez. However since then they have not made me laugh once.

Charliebitmyfinger · 12/10/2014 22:26

Yes I remember Rockstars (was that them) it was fine, this is horrid puerile 1970's schoolboy racism. I watched Bridesmaids the other day and could not stop laughing it was rude but bloody funny and up to date. W an L are just offensive full stop.

You're thinking of Rock Profiles.

ginzillas · 13/10/2014 00:01

Rock Profiles was fantastic. I loved it when they did a Take That reunion with Howard handing out the nibbles. And Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees dressed as a lion. Totally surreal and hilarious. But Little Britain was hit and miss and Come Fly with Me makes me feel uncomfortable. It was offensive in parts.

Greyhound · 13/10/2014 06:27

The Anne character shocks me - I take it she is supposed to have SN?

SuburbanRhonda · 13/10/2014 07:17

ral, you should look up the comments Joan Rivers made about Palestinians shortly before she died.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/10/2014 07:22

I can't believe they're repeating this, it was awful. Agree about Little Britain's Anne too.

TiggyD · 13/10/2014 07:32

Yes, it was very obvious racism by the Little Britain duo. Probably one of the reasons that comedy show was dumped after one series.

KikitheKitKat · 13/10/2014 07:41

Little Britain also had old people peeing all over the floor in the post office or something...nice.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/10/2014 07:53

Yes, that was Anne.

Only1scoop · 13/10/2014 08:33

Come Fly with me is hilarious....I watched much of it being filmed.

Walliams and Lucas are genius

Littledidsheknow · 13/10/2014 09:28

Have never found this pair even remotely funny. They are real lowest common denominator stuff. I stopped watching BGT when Walliams was on it; that even seemed to crack up whenever he opened his mouth or behaved like a prat remains an enormous mystery to me.
Never saw the programme you described, OP, but yes it does sound racist and very unfunny.

raltheraffe · 13/10/2014 09:31

I always thought Anne had MH issues, but it could have been a dig at people with SN.

Either way it was not funny.

AlmaMartyr · 13/10/2014 09:38

The popularity of these two has always baffled me and I can't believe it doesn't get challenged more. I don't mind edgy comedy, but this isn't edgy, just horrible.

Actually, that reminds me to get on and cancel our TV license, thanks :) Been meaning to for a while.
