To be too scared to watch 'The Walking Dead'?

Twice I've tried to watch it. Both times I was freaked out by three minutes in. He's just tried to get petrol and he's heard a noise behind him. I had to turn it off Blush

So if you love it, just how jumpy and gory is it? People seem to love it and it's my kind of programme, only I'm a big chicken. It's so eerie!

The opening of the first series is about as jumpy as it gets! I don't think it's scary at all and i'm usually a big scaredy cat!

lollilou · 09/10/2014 15:50

It's brilliant but very scary. If you like zombies it's one of the best.

cherrybombxo · 09/10/2014 15:51

I really, really can't stand scary/gory films but I've seen all of TWD. Frankly, the Xbox game is better by far, I'm not even looking forward to the new season of the TV show starting. The whole show is ridiculous, huge holes in the plot, storylines dragging out for far longer than need be and the last season was outright crap. IMO, of course Grin

I can handle it because it's over-the-top comic book violence but the acting and plots are terrible.

cherrybombxo · 09/10/2014 15:53

If you can handle Rick's terrible fake American accent and pronunciation of "Carl" ("CUUUUURL!") then I take my hat off to you!

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 09/10/2014 15:57

His name's not Carl, it's Coral. I'm guessing he was named after his grandma.

OP it is pretty gory, and lots of jumps, but worth watching. Maybe get someone to sit with you, it might not be as bad if you have company?

chockbic · 09/10/2014 15:58

Its a bit samey these days. Find somewhere to stay, be forced out, kill a few (hundred) zombies. Reminisce about the old days. Lose one of your crew but not a really important member.

I could write the script Grin

WillowWoods · 09/10/2014 16:00

Do not watch whilst eating!

cherrybombxo · 09/10/2014 16:01

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed It's Carl, both in the graphic novel and TV show.

Coooooooral!!!

It's great. I don't like jumpy or gory stuff but I just watch through my fingers at those parts. And never wear headphones.

DH doesn't let me watch it before bed though :( Apparently I shout all night, I don't notice though.

Crowen85 · 09/10/2014 16:02

Ny friend is legit obsessed with that show, so I watched it and not so much scared as sick to my stomach! lol not my cup of tea.

OneSkinnyChip · 09/10/2014 16:03

fairylea you are going to force me to put my big girl pants on and get through the opening scene :o

saskia I would love someone to watch it with but DH would give me his best 'WTF' look. He's not a fan of zombies / sci fi / horror.

OP posts:
OneSkinnyChip · 09/10/2014 16:04

Ha ha Bertie that's great. I can imagine the scene in our bedroom, as I thrash around shouting 'Don't eat me!!!' and DH backs out of the room slooowly :o

OneSkinnyChip · 09/10/2014 16:06

OMG!!! I made it another 20 seconds until a zombie in slippers shuffled over to pick up a toy rabbit Confused It's too frikkin' freaky!

Rick sounds like an absolute imbecile, that accent is so cringey!

Watch your tenses - no spoilers! Wink

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 09/10/2014 16:10

I was going to suggest you watched it during the day, but I see you are Grin

Stick with it, you can do this

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 09/10/2014 16:11

Cherry Oops. I'll ask MNHQ to edit/delete that.

Mrsstarlord · 09/10/2014 16:11

Tried to watch it and just didn't enjoy it at all. I know I'm in the minority but after 25 minutes of boredom interspersed with sickening anxiety and no likeable characters to speak of I gave up. I have no desire to watch it again. DH is gutted!

livelablove · 09/10/2014 16:13

I hate it, but dh loves it. If I have to walk through the living room while its on I try not to look at the TV and I hate the noise the zombies make. Not keen on gore.

Bonnefoi · 09/10/2014 16:13

I watch it on fast forward, other wise it freaks me out because I'm as chicken as I am mulelish stubborn. Wink

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 09/10/2014 16:15

What about Daryl, he's very likeable. And Carol too. Even Coral has grown on me, though he is very annoying at first.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 09/10/2014 16:16

And Michonne, she's great. I have a total girl crush on her.

BlueberryWafer · 09/10/2014 16:19

Ooh I love walking dead Grin yanbu though, it's quite gory! I just love zombie stuff (but I'm strange Smile)

TinklyLittleLaugh · 09/10/2014 16:20

DP and the older teens love it. To be honest I watch from behind the iPad. They tell me when it's safe to look.

chrome100 · 09/10/2014 16:22

I love it - but I have to say when I first started watching it I did have nightmares!
