Everyone IRL has told me to not worry about it as it will never happen.

I hope they are right.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 01/10/2014 21:41

U2 it would be great if that was the case. Let's not take any chances - a petition is just the start, what do you think?

Signed, thanks for posting!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/10/2014 21:48

Thank you for posting it, Luis. I was very ignorant about it, thinking it was like some kind of bank card to take care of food shopping and that monies would still be available for things that needed paying in cash. I was wrong about that. Ignorance is a terrible thing.

kali110 · 01/10/2014 21:49

Signed. I suffer with anxiety so this is really causing me stress and it hasn't even happen to me yet!
If this happened i wouldn't be able to pay my direct debits ?? so no bus or train pass so no way of getting to hospital or to see specialists far away, no phone or medical card.

Sallystyle · 01/10/2014 21:49

I have shared it on FB and private messaged a lot of people.

I am in the middle of debating it on FB right now, sadly it seems like the majority quite like the Tories which saddens me.

I am petrified of it happening, especially as a carer with two disabled children and a husband. It scares me shitless, but most people seem to think it is all talk and it will never go ahead.

I personally wouldn't put anything past them.

runes · 01/10/2014 21:53

Signed and shared. I despair at the thought of a future shaped by IDS and his over privileged heartless ilk. Labour disappoint me greatly but the Tories disgust me.

as a 30yr plus employee of DWP, I am HORRIFIED by this idea. We are simply civil SERVANTS of utterly ridiculous government policies, this being amongst the worst. So what would stop an alcoholic selling the £100 ,'basics' card for £50 or £,75 cash ? leaving family with even less. IDS needs to sit in a jobcentre with some real people and hear what life is really like.

PausingFlatly · 01/10/2014 22:18

I think with the bright idea of "Ooh, addicts!" they've found a sales strategy for a policy that has been mooted for years - and rejected for years because of its obvious fatal flaws.
