To think Autumn is wonderful?

I do love summer, sun and the festival/ holiday/ open air madness but I think Autumn is an amazing season. The colours are fabulous, Halloween is a great laugh, blackberry picking is great and autumn clothes are lovely.
The combination of brilliant sunshine and crisp cold is also lovely!

You sound like dh. This is his favourite time of year. Crisp air. No hay fever. Halloween, guy fawkes, Christmas... He's already super excited! Grin

usualsuspect333 · 23/09/2014 22:03

I'm not to keen on miserable wet and windy autumn days, no.

Mmeh · 23/09/2014 22:03

Love it. It's always been my favourite season.

sosotiredagain123 · 23/09/2014 22:04

I love spring everything coming to life and summer to come. I don't like the nights drawing in.

usualsuspect333 · 23/09/2014 22:04

I don't like the long dark nights much either.

superstarheartbreaker · 23/09/2014 22:08

The night are a pain but the days make it worth it. So far Autumn has not been soggy. Last few summers were far soggier! X

Another autumn lover here!!

teeththief · 23/09/2014 22:18

My favourite season by far! I love it. The changing colours, the crisp air, the wrapping up in layers of clothing...and the build up to Christmas Grin Love it, love it, love it!!

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 23/09/2014 22:19

Sort of.

My favourite season is spring but as long as the seasons are right, as in a long hot summer, cold crisp winter and glorious spring and autumn I am happy.

When that actually happens that would be great. Grin

cartsmar · 23/09/2014 22:20

Autumn is the best season, followed by spring then winter then summer.

ps the seasons do not need capital letters Smile

sweetkitty · 23/09/2014 22:22

Spring for me Autumn depresses me I hate the long dark nights and bring cold all the time. Love it when everything Springs to life again.

usualsuspect333 · 23/09/2014 22:24

What you think autumn is going to be like and what it is actually like are two different things.

PS , the Op didn't ask for an English lesson.

usualsuspect333 · 23/09/2014 22:26

Autumn depresses me too. I hate wearing a coat and boots.

WooWooOwl · 23/09/2014 22:26

I'd like autumn if it weren't for the fact that at the moment it's freezing when I leave the house in the morning, cold for most of the day, but toastie hot for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

The last couple of days I've been wearing boots into work, and then changing into cooler shoes after lunch.

My wardrobe just does not adequately support such changeable weather in the space of a few hours!

daisychain01 · 23/09/2014 22:27

Spring 'n' Autum girl, me.

Don't like the shorter days, but like the mist and mellow fruitfulness of it all.

Lovely soft light, mist rising up over the field at the back of us, a touch of dew on the grass and seeing the swallows overhead, they're getting restless and thinking about heading down towards Africa.

Time for things to go to sleep for a while.

Bunbaker · 23/09/2014 22:27

"The combination of brilliant sunshine and crisp cold is also lovely!"

On the very rare occasion that happens, yes it is. In reality autumn for us is dark, dank, gloomy days with such low light levels that we need the lights on all day and I sink into a gloomy mood.

I loathe winter and can't wait until the longer days again.

elQuintoConyo · 23/09/2014 22:27

I've just spent the afternoon collecting conkers with a very excited nearly-3 yo, he had a whale of a time apart from stepping in some poo we'd just had a picnic and were wearing t-shirts!

I'm going to make a front door wreath with some of the conkers and roast the rest.

We have also been collecting pine cones in the last month as and when we see them for December decorations and crafts. Oh, and I picked up a handful of yellow leaves and made a very small wreath with a circle of card cut out of a cereal packet and hot glue! It'll be dead I the morning, no doubt, but it did look petty for the evening.

Autumn colours are lovely and it is nice that the heat has died down even though it is still sunny.

Bunbaker · 23/09/2014 22:28

Why are you roasting conkers?

usualsuspect333 · 23/09/2014 22:28

YY, I've been wearing a coat to work in the mornings and then having to carry it home in the afternoon.

WeAreGroot · 23/09/2014 22:28

I love autumn, I've already bought my first Halloween-themed jumper of the year Grin

I love being able to put the fake fire on in an evening. It makes the dogs sleepy and I can get on with crocheting without fear of my wool being nicked at every opportunity.

I could do without the spiders though, I've not had a day without some spider related incident or other for about a week Hmm

poolomoomon · 23/09/2014 22:28

Oh yes! Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons, I really come to life and get super excited. Halloween, bonfire night and of course CHRISTMAS. I love baking and cooking warming foods, the beautiful colours of the leaves falling, watching the DC jump and stomp in the crunchy leaves, cosy film days... Ahh I love love love it all!

I've told DH plenty of times that I want to move to Alaska Grin. Hot weather doesn't agree with me at all, I always thrive in the cold. He hates the cold but also gets hayfever so doesn't miss summer for that reason.

I like the dark nights too, the DC actually go to sleep Grin.

iklboo · 23/09/2014 22:30

Don't eat horse chestnuts (conkers). They're not the edible kind.

elQuintoConyo · 23/09/2014 22:31

Simple wreath Grin

I feel too cooped up in autumn and winter. I love having the windows and back door open all summer.

FakaP · 23/09/2014 22:33

I love it when you leave the house in the morning and its crisp and bright, hate it when it's light but cold and wet! It's so dependent on the weather!
