To think Autumn is wonderful?

I do love summer, sun and the festival/ holiday/ open air madness but I think Autumn is an amazing season. The colours are fabulous, Halloween is a great laugh, blackberry picking is great and autumn clothes are lovely.
The combination of brilliant sunshine and crisp cold is also lovely!

I love autumn too, I like that the nights are drawing in and I can start having hot chocolate in the evenings without it feeling weird!

I've just treated myself to a new pair of winter boots and got my DS his first ever pair of wellies - I can't wait to take him out to splash in puddles.

Next on the list will be to dig out all my favourite jumpers - perfect!

elQuintoConyo · 23/09/2014 22:34

Yes, just googled them, I'll make a bigger wreath instead!

TheRealMaryMillington · 23/09/2014 22:34

I love Autumn
But it all goes to feck in November. Horrific

whathaveiforgottentoday · 23/09/2014 22:35

I love autumn except for the spider invasion.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 23/09/2014 22:41

I love it. Sometimes I work sort of shifts. But the clear cut between days and nights are lovely.
That said - I love the long nights of early summer.
But the clear cut days and nights really works for me.
Maybe we should have a 'when you were born, what time of year (can't count summer days, holidays when young may skew that) do you love'

ContactIssue · 23/09/2014 22:43

Another autumn lover here. I especially love to go crunching in leaves.

The best things are: the food, hot chocolate, PJs, a real fire and the lead up to Christmas. I also love the crisp air in the morning, but I agree they are more often damp (especially here in the North). Halloween and Nov 5th are also good.

I hate January and February and early March though - by then I'm just ready for spring.

Sorry for the ramble. I love autumn if you couldn't tell Grin

SanityClause · 23/09/2014 22:44

It's the soft light, I love.

tmae · 23/09/2014 22:46

I hate Summer and am glad for the Autumn to finally be here!

Shorter days, colder weather, spices (not that you can't have autumny/wintery spices in summer and spring), jumpers, and all the other stuff makes me very happy!

MummyBeerest · 23/09/2014 22:50

I love Autumn. With a capital LOVE.

Bettercallsaul1 · 23/09/2014 23:00

I love autumn - bring on the mists and mellow fruitfulness, I say! There is something very poignant about the beautiful, vivid dying of the year.

5Foot5 · 23/09/2014 23:24

I am very much a glass half full person so whichever season we are about to enter I get enthused about. Not sure I have an actual favourite I just roll with it when the time comes. Currently planning what I can make/knit for Christmas presents and relishing the tree colours and early morning chill.

DrCoconut · 23/09/2014 23:25

Not keen on the end of the summer. I'd like far more hot weather, the cold and damp is miserable.

StillSquirrelling · 23/09/2014 23:40

Autumn has always been my favourite time of year too. I love the colours, the misty mornings, the smell, the conkers, unpacking my woolly jumpers, pretty much everything apart from the fucking daddy-long-legs!!!!!!

Bettercallsaul1 · 24/09/2014 00:01

My daughter and I walked into town this afternoon along tree-fringed streets and there was a steady, gentle fall of leaves all around us. It was magical - the still air and floating leaves, slowly descending. A moment to be savoured and remembered.

ContactIssue · 24/09/2014 00:04

There's nothing I like about winter, apart from Christmas and the post-Christmas sales!

I suppose I do quite like some of the gorgeous sunsets we get in winter. Shame they happen at 3-4pm! Hmm

UncleT · 24/09/2014 00:06

Autumn rules. It's a beautiful season to photograph. The colours are superb. If you live in a city with large and grand parks, leafy boulevards and so on, it can be a truly magical time of year. Crisp mornings and cool evenings, gorgeous colour all over the place. What's not to like?

popcornpaws · 24/09/2014 00:07

Oh i love it, i'm so much happier in autumn and winter!
I love sitting in the kitchen watching the leaves falling from the trees and i live at a glen so the mist creeps up in the morning and when it clears you can see all the berries on the trees and the very green grass.
I love the shorter days and tonight when taking the dog out it was quite heavy rain, perfect…
Summer =too much noise, too much heat, days too long and midges!

Gruntfuttock · 24/09/2014 00:16

Oh no, I really love spring. I love all the spring flowers, such as crocuses, daffodils, primroses and tulips. Many of the trees are in blossom and it's not too hot.
Autumn, to me, is plants and trees dying and leaves turning brown, and darker evenings. It's quite depressing, especially with the dreaded Christmas time looming.

Gruntfuttock · 24/09/2014 00:17

I forgot to mention bluebells in the spring too. Springtime is surely best. Smile

UncleT · 24/09/2014 00:19

Spring is also superb. However, I don't think autumn has negative associations. It's the start of cosiness, walks with cool air on your cheeks, getting towards Christmas, one step towards next summer, and so on - plus the fact that it looks beautiful.

Bettercallsaul1 · 24/09/2014 00:29

Ah, but that's the paradox of autumn, *Gruntfuttock" - the year is dying but it looks so beautiful! The colours of the leaves are those of life - red, orange and yellow -even though they are dead. I like spring as well, though, after autumn. The transient seasons (autumn and spring) are more interesting and meaningful than the static ones of summer and winter.

wobblyweebles · 24/09/2014 00:55

I'm in New England so it's fall rather than autumn, and it is spectacular.

If it wasn't followed by winter I'd like it a lot more.

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 24/09/2014 08:13

I love autumn. I love walking the dog and it being cool rather than cold. The colours, the opportunity to wear boots and jumpers, getting into pyjamas and closing the door (and curtains) on the world. I love crisp and sunny days. Yes, sometimes it rains but that happens at any time of the year.

I like summer but by the time we get to the end of it I've had enough of the heat and look forward to the cooler days. I have to admit that by the time christmas/ny is over I'm looking forward to spring and the reawakening of nature and the warmer weather.

I used to love summer as a child mainly because of the long summer holidays but nowadays I'd say that autumn/spring are my favourites and summer/winter are something to look forward to when they start but I'm glad they're over when we move into the next season.

LaurieMarlow · 24/09/2014 08:21

Early autumn is probably my favourite time of year. We've been so lucky in London, September has been beautiful.

24balloons · 24/09/2014 08:38

YANBU I love autumn too. Always reminds me of starting Uni which opened up a new world to me, if that makes sense? I love the colours of the leaves on the trees & the sunny but not hot days.
