and her Jackpot Balls?

I'm usually quite tolerant of naff adverts but this is just lewd and cringeworthy and makes me want to throw things at the TV.

Such innuendo aimed at women on daytime tv is now, thankfully, unacceptable so what sort of message is this ad sending?

She's a disgrace to modern women and should have retired years ago.

also agree with *Pointless fan&.

GoringBit · 09/09/2014 19:40

Sorry Bifauxnen, just ignore me. Sad

Maisyblue · 09/09/2014 20:26

The abortion thing has always put me off her, why she just didn't get sterilised....also she seemed to have a thing for the Krays and married another gangster. Common as muck.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 10/09/2014 07:36

I was cross with Hugh Lawrie for the L'Oreal advert. He's made a spectacular amount of money from House MD so really doesn't need any more I don't think*.

*unless he's well in to BW's online bingo.

poolomoomon · 10/09/2014 07:59

The advert thing does confuse me. I noticed BW started doing those ads as soon as she vacated Eastenders. I remember saying "well that's a step up, leave the most popular (?) soap in the country to go do bingo adverts! Brilliant." She might be back in 'Enders now though, haven't watched for a couple of years. Don't really understand the need for big stars to do adverts. IMO it's easy cash and they're greedy.

Never had an issue with BW until now. Didn't know about the multiple terminations. I try not to judge people based on stuff like that but it's hard, as others have said she should have got sterilised... Or at least been super careful with protection. HMPH. Always quite liked Peggy. She was shite in the carry on movies though, always much preferred Joan Sims.

elephanteraser · 10/09/2014 08:01

she is a human not a saint and am sure has bad and good days like the rest of the human race. Hmm at some of these frankly bizarre comments.

Eliza22 · 10/09/2014 08:27

I don't hate the woman. I do think it's time she retired gracefully but I don't think she will, any time soon. She belongs in a bygone age when it was acceptable for Sid James to leer at her breasts because it was "funny". Also, it was acceptable for men to grope and abuse and pass it off as "only having a bit of fun" and "can't you take a joke?". Times have changed. Some people haven't.

At the weekend, there was an old Carry On film aired. Barbara Windsor had the same physique, same hairdo and same signature "giggle" . I think the lady has enjoyed a long, long career on a very small talent.

Letthemtalk · 10/09/2014 08:32

Hate her. When I was little we saw her on holiday, and she refused to give me an autograph, have despised her ever since.

Hedgehogparty · 10/09/2014 08:38

I don't like the promotion of gambling, the number of gambling ads seems to be increasing. and the ad is pretty sleazy.
Obviously big money to be had..........

WallyBantersJunkBox · 10/09/2014 08:48

Aww leave Babs alone, she's a genooowine cockanay sparrow & loved nothing more than hanging out with the Kray twins who could be forgiven for anything because they luvved their mum. Or something.

senua · 10/09/2014 09:03

I was cross with Hugh Lawrie for the L'Oreal advert. He's made a spectacular amount of money from House MD so really doesn't need any more I don't think.

no no no no. totally wrong.
L'Oreal asked him to do the advertisement. He said no, tacky, don't need the money, etc, etc.
They said OK, more money it is then. He said no.
They said OK, even more money then. He said no.
etc etc

Eventually they offered him staggering amounts of money. He thought - well they are going to pay someone these obscene amounts of money, so why not make sure it comes my way because then I can sent it to charity.
So he did.

Is he forgiven?

Eliza22 · 10/09/2014 09:19

Is that true? Hugh gave the money to charity?

Eliza22 · 10/09/2014 09:23

Wow, just seen that it IS true! Wonder if Cheryl (Cole) not-sure-of-her-name-now, will donate some of her massive L'loreal "Because I'm Worth It" dish to good causes?

askyfullofstars · 10/09/2014 09:25

Awww Thanks Senua, I did cringe each time I saw him in those L'oreal ads.

BravePotato · 10/09/2014 09:26

can't stand Barbara with her babs and balls. Hate the ad, hate it

love Hugh Laurie though

pictish · 10/09/2014 09:27

Yanbu - I can't stand Our Babs and her cockney sparra persona.

throckenholt · 10/09/2014 09:28

YABU to hate her. She is just another person, doing whatever. If you don't like it - don't watch - but don't waste your energy hating her. She will never know or care what you think of her anyway.

Personally I am indifferent to her. When I glimpsed the advert I found it mildly irritating - but no more than most adverts. I am more likely to say I hate the advertising industry than any particular person involved.

Curlyweasel · 10/09/2014 09:31

Think BW's work extended to more than the CO films (Sparrows Can't Sing, Things Ain't Wot They Used to Be and so on). She was talented, but became typecast not long into her career.

pictish · 10/09/2014 09:33

If you don't like it - don't watch
I agree, which is why the remote control is subject to a flying tackle every time her face appears on screen.

prh47bridge · 10/09/2014 10:07

FWIW three of her abortions were before she was 21, i.e. before abortion was legalised.

I am interested to note that the Shoreditch-born, East End raised daughter of a barrow boy and a dressmaker is described as Mockney by GoringBit and pictish objects to her "cockney sparra persona". As far as I can see she is authentic Cockney. I am not a fan but criticising her for being a fake Cockney is a bit silly.

pictish · 10/09/2014 10:26

I don't think it's fake. I know she's a bloody cockney.
If she'd been a Glaswegian she'd have hammed the heck of that as well, and been every bit as annoying.

pictish · 10/09/2014 10:28

She's brassy and fake no matter where she comes from.

femin · 10/09/2014 11:03

If she had 3 of her abortions before 21 years of age, then getting contraception, especially if you were unmarried, was very very difficult. Basically there were condoms that men could buy, everything else you had to be married to get. And condoms then were not so reliable as they didn't have spermicide on them.

Maisyblue · 10/09/2014 12:33

Yes but femin most other young people of her generation managed without having to have multiple abortions. I never heard of anyone having so many.

femin · 10/09/2014 12:37

Most other women her age got married very young or had no sex before marriage.
