If you put Michael Ball into a musical it will be utterly amazing

If you put Ruthie Henshall into a musical she'll kill it dead

I love Ruthie.
If you look at her career you can hardly say she kills musicals. YADBU.

wowfudge · 24/08/2014 12:21

YABU - I give you Les Mis (wonderful) and Passion (beyond dire and entailed seeing Michael Ball's naked behind).

LongFingers · 24/08/2014 12:23

I like Michael Ball, who is Ruthie?

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 24/08/2014 12:23

She's an awful ego of a musical performer

She's killed all shows I've seen her in and rendered them unwatchable for me

I'm not a fan of Ruthie Henshall. Apart from anything else, I find it irritating that she has put an 'ie' on the end of a name that really doesn't require it. It sounds silly.

Ludoole · 24/08/2014 12:25

Even les mis? Chicago? She loves me? Miss Saigon? They were all amazing!

Camsie30 · 24/08/2014 12:25

I saw Ruthie in Billy Elliot recently and she was fantastic. Would rather see her over Denice Van Outen or some reality show reject any day

HappyAgainOneDay · 24/08/2014 12:27

Never heard of her.

Methe · 24/08/2014 12:29

Never heard of her either.

I saw wicked last night (incredible BTW!) and I couldn't tell you the name of any of the actors Blush. I clearly need to pay more attention.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 24/08/2014 12:32

She was awful in les mis and when I saw her in Chicago she couldn't hack not being the lead so kept trying to steal the show which became annoying - like a child jostling to be front and centre when they're 3rd cabbage from the left

OP posts:
Ludoole · 24/08/2014 12:33

The while point of chicago is roxie and velma vie to be the lead!!!

Ludoole · 24/08/2014 12:34

Its a game of one upmanship. Even the musical director said that!

SavoyCabbage · 24/08/2014 12:35

Yes, isn't that the storyline?

ArsenicyOldFace · 24/08/2014 12:37

Hate hate hate musicals. Unless they are Fred and Ginger films.

I'd rather skewer my own liver with a pipecleaner than go near anything involving his balliness.

YABVU to cheerleader for these modern travesties of noise Wink

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 24/08/2014 12:38

I know the story but this wasn't the character this was her. It's hard to explain but it didn't work what she was doing

EatTheRude · 24/08/2014 12:39

I love Michael Ball, he was the best Sweeney Todd ever.

Ludoole · 24/08/2014 12:40

Sounds entirely character based to me.
I think you just dont like her fullstop.
She could do amazing performances and you still would find a perceived fault.

MrsDavidBowie · 24/08/2014 12:40

eattherude wasn't he?
I love Michael Ball

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 24/08/2014 12:41

I agree about Sweeney Todd he was unbelievable in that!

I should point out that I'm the type of person who prefers Javert to Valjean in Les Mis too because he has the better songs Grin

OP posts:
Ludoole · 24/08/2014 12:42

Agree totally about sweeney todd.

Ludoole · 24/08/2014 12:43

Also agree about javert Grin

ArsenicyOldFace · 24/08/2014 12:44

Seriously, don't any of you find west end muicals just too loud?

I gave up after a group visit to Mamma Mia two years ago.

Panicking it's much age now.

Nomama · 24/08/2014 12:44

She can't that bad, 5 Olivier Award nominations puts her somewhere towards the top of her profession, I think!

MrsDavidBowie · 24/08/2014 12:46

I love musicals.
Am off to Avenue Q next week, Sweeney Todd at Twickenham theatre, Scottsboro boys, Forbidden Broadway, Evita, Thoroughly modern Millie and Miss Saigon..all before December.

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 24/08/2014 12:47

Just because she's got awards doesn't mean everyone is going to like her Grin

They are loud but so much fun!

Saying that though I didn't like the new Miss Saigon. It was a bit too 6th form production/minimalist for the story
